It’s been a crazy busy weekend for me, with a capital C!
I just got back last night from a weekend long trip from SBS Con, which was a blogging convention with the Southern Blog Society group I am a member of. If you follow me on Instagram @JennySueMakeup, then you probably were inundated with a bunch of beautiful pics from my weekend!! It was spent in the most charming city of Charleston, South Carolina while meeting and greeting with a bunch of like-minded blogger individuals along with beauty, fashion, and lifestyle brands I made connections with. It was a whirlwind of a good time. I plan on giving everyone a recap along with lots of good pics sometimes this week.
But all the while I was there promoting myself and this beauty blog, I couldn’t help but want to tell everyone about a new endeavor that has now become a reality. I seriously can’t even believe it. My husband Scott and I have OUR VERY OWN Podcast available on iTunes, called “MAKING IT UP AS WE GROW.” Yep, our journey into uncharted territory has begun and it is very exciting.
Most of my friends and family that found out we were going to try and do this thought we were a bit nuts to add something else media related to our plate, especially since we had no idea how to do it. I am already on practically every platform out there from WordPress, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, you name it, I’m on it. Scott and I seriously both dig social media though, so why not add podcasting to our resume??
Wait let me back up, this was actually not my idea, but all Scott. I was just very supportive after a bit of convincing it might be a good idea for people to hear our story and and that it could possibly help drive more traffic to my blog site. I mean, I will personally be talking on these episodes and of course mentioning this blog and why I do it! So adding podcasting seems to be a natural fit because why not add another way for people to find out about your blog when you’re a blogger??
However, starting a podcast is no easy feet. There is SO much that goes into getting it started. It’s not just buying a microphone and hitting record and talking back and forth. Yes we do that, but we decided to add an additional entertaining spin on that idea. We want each one to sound like a story with musical transitions here and there to keep you interested! Luckily, Scott has done 99% of the work getting this thing to come to life, and I am the reluctant co-host…literally. He has an awesome voice for something like this, mine, eh, I’m critical and feel like I sound funny. But oh well, it’s happening and it’s out there so I’m going to embrace my voice!
Here is what Making It Up As We Grow is about in a small nutshell:
“A narrative style podcast featuring a husband and wife, better known as Scott and Jennifer. Jennifer is freelance makeup artist who runs a beauty blog. Scott her husband is an outside sales professional with an entrepreneur spirit (and a voice for radio). Tune in to hear how Jennifer and Scott came up with this entrepreneurial idea to start a podcast to see if podcasting will help create a buzz and drive traffic to Jennifer’s website. Will it work? Who knows? But they’re going to have fun sharing their stores as they try to Grow.”

I must say, it was a bit weird when we started recording ourselves just chatting whenever we could. It didn’t feel natural, and still really doesn’t, but it’s getting easier. You gotta do it in order to get good sound bites and real time moments in our crazy lives of raising kids while trying to grow our businesses.
