We can’t all expect to look as sophisticated and chic soaking wet as Ms. Hepburn above (I’m sure she had a makeup crew behind her every fake rain drop of the way!). But lucky for us non-actress types, there are definitely some great waterproof products on the market today to help keep your makeup from running around your face in a downpour. Here are some personal favorites with an occasional previous blog review attached to it…
EYES : Mascara – Cover Girl Lash Blast Volume 24 Hr mascara ($9), this stuff is no joke and stays on through a sweaty workout, drenching rain, or a cry fest. It’s my new favorite go NOwhere mascara!! Eye liner – For liquid, I stand by Physician’s Formula Eye Booster liner ($10) not only for the non budge factor, but the pen tip is super easy to handle for creating a winged eye. For pencil liner, Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On eye pencils ($19) rock.
SKIN : Foundation – Revlon ColorStay Makeup foundation ($10) certainly sticks to the skin the best I’ve seen. I like to use a thin layer of kleenex to blot the skin after application and add another light application if you want extreme stay proof flawless skin. Cheeks – Benefit’s original Benetint ($29) is one of those products that if you layer it, it isn’t going to go anywhere and gives a gorgeously natural flushed look that sinks into your skin (no powdery cheeks here!).
LIPS : Lip pencil – Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil ($24) is one of the best lip liner/color all in ones around that can endure hours without reapplication. If you do the same kleenex idea mentioned above for foundation here with the lips, you get double to the staying power!
Tip :: This might seem like common sense, but when dressing your face for a rainy day – go for lighter colors just in case. So if they do start to run, you don’t have a dark tragically smeared face of color!
