You shouldn’t be embarrassed, everybody has one every now and then, everybody…A BAD HAIR DAY!!
{Poor poor Helena Bonham Carter and her bad hair day.}
Ok, we all know that Helena probably isn’t having a bad hair day in her eyes, because I think she went out in public like this on purpose. Oh well, to each her own style!! But were this my head of hair, I would have gone a different route…
{Hair, what hair??}
Am I hiding my bad hair day well?? I’ve been having one for awhile now, so it’s obviously time to get a hair cut which is thankfully happening today! Yay! Until then, this is how I have distracted from sad, tired, ornery, broken hair…
1. A Good Hat. No, a baseball hat does not count, unless you’re going to the gym to workout (which I haven’t in over 2 weeks -ugh). We are talking about trying to look your best, and a baseball cap ain’t gonna cut it. I own quite a few dressy hats, and I get more compliments on a good hat when I wear one. They aren’t that expensive and dress up your head easier than any cute hair clip, headband, or complicated scarf wrap, plus they cover up all of that hair that’s not working at the moment in an instant. This is a 5 year old straw hat from TJ Maxx, but similar found at Urban Outfitters here.
*Insider tip : I always have to buy my hats from the mens section because I have a big melon, no kidding. The women’s fedoras always look like I’m trying to wear my 5 year olds hats to play dress up in, not a good look. Ha!
2. Don’t forget your cheeks and lips. Luckily with a hat, it covers up most of your eyes, so when it comes to makeup, the cheeks on down are what I spend the most time on makeup wise. A bright cheek and glossy lip is a great addition to any hat. I’m wearing my newest L’Oreal blush talked about here and L’Oreal Infallible gloss in “blush.”
3. A statement necklace can’t hurt. I’m obsessed with my tiny rose gold and diamond J necklace my dear sisnlaw gifted me and when paired with my Stella and Dot mixed metal Zoe Lariat necklace, I’ve got a fancy hair distraction! This lariat can be worn many ways, even as a bracelet, so this thing dresses up my plain ole black tee in a heartbeat.
What are your favorite ways to distract from a bad hair day?
(And if you say you don’t get them, you’re obviously not human;))
