50 Shades Of Grey, the March Glamour magazine cover. What does it have to do with this blog post? Not much. I just thought that Jamie Dornan made for a realllly nice backdrop for my products I’m about to start talking about 🙂 Plain and simple. Hopefully the below pics won’t distract you from my product discussions!! Ha!
I have recently bought quite a few new (and repeat) beauty products that somehow in the hustle and bustle of life, kids, business, and blogging, I have forgotten to even mention to you all!! So today I want to fill you in on the drugstore products I think are MUST HAVE HITS to try (there are 5 of them) and DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY MISSES (only 2!).
- NYX Wonder Pencil, $4.49 – this is a major repeat purchase. It comes in light, medium, and dark, all versions of a peach shade. I use this in the inner waterline of my lower eyelid to really brighten the whites of my eyes – much more realistic than any white pencil you could use. It’s also amazing for dotting on top of those tiny red bumps and blemishes to tone down redness because it’s pointed and gets exactly where you need it to. It works wonders. Of course clean it off with alcohol or sharpen it before you do pimple treating and eye lining:)
- NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream, $5.99– Y’all know I expressed my love for this formula in this blog post, and so I bought my second shade, Istanbul. So pretty, so pink with a tad undertone of peach to it. It looks too dark in the swatch above (sometimes my camera and natural lighting just don’t work out, *sigh), and on my lips looks more like the tube shade it comes in. Be sure to read above link to hear more detail on the formula.
- Rimmel London Scandal Eyes ShadowStick, $4.49 – I briefly mentioned it in this post on what to wear to brunch but I gotta give it a bit more love. First the color Bad Girl Bronze is the bomb, so shimmery rich brown and soft like buttah – means it’s really easy to blend out!! I use it right along the lash line and smudge like crazy instead of an eyeliner and it gives such a pretty finish. In the above blog post I only had it lining my lower lash line.
- Maybelline Instant Age Rewind, $8.99 Again, another repeat buy but this is a brand new color for me. A pinky/peach based concealer that is awesome for brightening those with super brown under eye circles. I love this formula bc it’s so hydrating and doesn’t cake up and get dry in those with aging skin…ugh ugh, me!!! Remember my awesome youtube video I did mentioning it?? If you liked it, please subscribe to my YouTube channel so it will get me excited to make more video tutorials!!
Ok, onto the Misses. I typically don’t focus on the negative of products I use, but I figured it’s okay to switch up my blog mentality sometime and fill you in on two purchases I was really disappointed in. Don’t Jamie and Dakota look sad about these products in this pic?? Ha!!
Sadly they’re both from my FAVE drugstore brand L’Oreal. The first is the Voluminous Miss Manga mascara that in this ad shows a girl with mad crazy thick almost spider lashes, which I’m not scared of. It gave me less than full lashes. I’ve even seen a lot of my favorite beauty bloggers give this formula lots of love but it just didn’t work out for me. Womp womp. I think mascara is a lot like perfume though – it works (smells) different on everyone depending on your lash type.
The second is the L’Oreal Lineur Intense Carbon Black liquid liner. The tip of the liner is a bit too flimsy and thick for me as I like to create the thinnest of winged eye or the thickest – my choice. It’s hard to use and I consider myself a liquid liner connoisseur! It is a great true inky black but then it has zero staying power and faded and smudged way too quickly on me.
So there you have my 50 cents (or 2 cents!) on these drugstore goodies.
Do you own any of these drugstore products? And an even better question – WHO is willing to admit they’re going to see 50 Shades of Grey when it comes out on Valentine’s Day?? Here’s my romantic inspired Valentine’s makeup look just in case you want to wear it when you go see the movie… (and yes, I’m going with my girlfriends. Gotta see what the hype is all about!!)
