Who wants to say “buh bye” to dull WINTER makeup, and “HELLO!” to cheerful SPRING makeup?!! *raises hand realllllyyy high in the air!! *
Let’s work on escaping a little from the past year, and welcome in a brand new season with a popular spring beauty trend worth trying…the COLORFUL CAT EYE.
I think we all deserve a little fun and whimsy in our lives right now. And luckily, experimenting with new makeup looks can bring immediate joy to our faces, with very little effort!
Watch my recent YouTube video below showing you the exact steps to take to nail this spring forward POP! of colorful eyeliner look…without actual eyeliner! Then keep scrolling for product details and more info on how I did it…
And if you are reading this and over 40 (like me!) and are thinking – “I can’t pull off funky eye makeup colors like this,” – think again!! Yes, you CAN. Throw out the thought of old school beauty rules, and wear whatever you WANT to wear. Life is too short to just wear brown or black eyeliner…wink wink
I am going to list the steps below that I used in the video to create this colorful cat liner look. And remember, you can modify this look and make it as light or as dramatic/bold as you want. You can also switch up the green shade I used and play around with other spring-like shades of pinks, purples, bright blues, etc – just have fun with this look!
HOW TO GET THE LOOK :
STEP 1 : eyelid primer all over the lid. those shadows need something to grab on to! I used this NYX one.
STEP 2 : light ivory shadow along brow bone and remainder of eyelid to matte out the eye bed.
STEP 3 : shade in and define the crease of your eye socket with a neutral warm brown or taupe. I used this Makeup Revolution palette in “Affinity” for step 2 + 3.
STEP 4: grab a small angled eyeliner brush and spray with MAC Fix Plus spray to turn your eyeshadows into eyeliner.

STEP 5 : dip your angled brush in whatever bold cheerful color of shadow you like and get started (I used “plant and leaf” from this Chilled palette.
STEP 6 : draw out your wing first as far as you want it to go, the bring it back towards the lash line in a small triangle shape to create the wing. then color in the rest of the lash line with the same shade and technique.
STEP 7 : now curl your lashes and pop on mascara. I chose to go a step further and use this emerald green mascara for more fun pops of color!
STEP 8 : if you have time, swipe along the lower inner waterline with a nude eyeliner to brighten the whites of the eyes and take away the natural redness most of us have there. I used this Essence “silky nude” one.

Top off your look with simple nonfussy skin, a pop of cheek color, and a neutral gloss. I used my old school favorite gloss “Rosy Future” from Revlon. Now let those eyes do the talking and show people you’ve got your spring spirit on!
