Do you have certain things each season you just love to put on??
Every season I seem to switch up a few categories in my beauty and style routine that kind of go along with the changing temps – such as lipstick shades, skincare, nail color, staple clothing pieces, etc. Fall officially began on September 22nd and I can say with 100% certainty that all of these things have been on heavy rotation since then and will be until fall officially changes over to winter on December 21st this year.
If you follow me on Instagram already, you’ve no doubt seen most of these pop up there! Here are my five fall style and beauty things I can’t get enough of wearing this fall, if you’d like to take a look…
My skin cries out for extra hydration during the fall and winter months, and there’s nothing I love better than this cream. Yes, it’s a splurge (I drink boxed wine and wear drugstore mascara if that tells you anything about my budget style!) but every time I apply it, it’s a mood lifter due to the amazing smell and silk-like feel on my skin.
And with the hits that 2020 keeps bringing us, any small thing like this that can spark joy while also making me smell and feel good, is 100% worth the price tag. Have you ever owned a perfume or lotion that the smell immediately triggers good vibes when you apply it? This is that for me. If you just can’t pull the trigger at $45, they do offer a mini version for $20 here. That’s what I started with, and of course now, I’m two full tubs into the stuff!!

FESTIVE HOLIDAY GREEN NAILS. I’m actually wearing this Essie “Off Tropic” shade, $9, as I type this post!
This deep emerald green is a shade I have lacked from my polish collection and felt that the approaching holidays would be the perfect time to try it! And boy, am I glad I did. This Essie version is just the rich expensive-looking green (I feared it would look cheap for some reason) I had hoped for and is so flattering. I will definitely be sporting this into the Christmas season because it feels very holly-day ish!! (My DIY nail polish wall here and my all time fave top coat is this one.)

VITAMIN C COMPLEXION ENHANCERS. So one of the most important skincare ingredients we should be wearing in our daily skincare routines, is Vitamin C.
Why? Because Vitamin C promotes collagen production, which has the potential to thicken the dermis, diminish fine lines, and is essential for firm, youthful skin…yes please!! And “applying it topically, is 20 times more potent than the oral intake of Vitmain C,” says Dr. Patricia Wexler.
I created the above YouTube video breaking down my thoughts on these new complexion enhancing products I received via Pixi Beauty. These products act like no-makeup makeup while also having the benefit of topical Vitamin C. Watch the video to see which of these are now definite staples in my daily life on the quest for better looking skin!! *Spoiler alert* the $18 skin perfector is ahhhh-mazing!!

Moody Berry Lips. Now that I’m into my 40’s I’ve realized two important things when wearing a darker lip.
The finish should be more matte or cream finish so that it looks sophisticated, not tacky (eh hem, high gloss). And that the rest of my makeup should be very minimal so as not to fight with said dramatic lips. We don’t need eyes and lips both fighting for the spotlight!
I just purchased the much-hyped Rare Beauty Lip Souffle matte lip color (Selena Gomez’s new makeup line) in shade “strengthen.” I dig a deeper lip color when the temps start getting colder – a frosty pink just doesn’t seem to go with the seasonal feel, right?? The shade looks more purple online, but the description that says it is a dark cool red is better . (similar budget-friendly berry lip one here in “Voyager.”)

EMBRACING OVERALLS. No, they’re not just for farmers.
My denim overalls are like jeans, but more fun! Yes they can be a bit trickier to style (just so you don’t look like a 10 year old) but I find that if you keep it simple and the cut is right, they never go out of style.
Funny story, I had a random lady comment last year on an Instagram post of mine where I was wearing a different style of overall, and I quote her, “Honey, you are too old to pull that look off! You look silly.”
It bothered me at first and caught me off guard. But the more I stepped away from her comment, it reminded me of the quote, “Forget the rules. If you like it, wear it.”
There are zero rules that I have seen saying if you’re over X amount of age, you can’t wear something.
Since denim is warm, denim overalls are the perfect transition piece into winter. You can either wear them with a lightweight 3/4 or long sleeve tee like I am here, or they’re cute with a long cardigan thrown over the top as well. Pair them with rad footwear like metallic booties, or cool sneakers, and your look is complete! Mine are old Gap but Abercrombie has a super cool distressed pair here and Target also has a pair that get great ratings here.
What are you finding yourself wearing lately?? Anything that I need to add to my fall style and beauty routine? Tell me!
