It’s almost Valentine’s Day and that means, let the ROMANTIC MAKEUP INSPIRATION begin! (And the champagne flowing amma I right??)
In all honesty, my hubby and I aren’t huge into VDay. Now we are not against it, no not at all. I love ANY day that celebrates LOVE and DEVOTION to one another!!
It’s just that we agree that we would rather not waste a bunch of money on expensive dinners, fancy gifts, or even $$ cards for each other (because KIDS). But I will admit, I wouldn’t hate a dozen fresh roses to decorate my house with – hey Trader Joes has them for like $10. Also, chocolate or a nice bottle of bubbly is always welcome (because KIDS).
Okay maybe I do get into Valentine’s Day….ha!!!
Anyway, back to the subject at hand – ROMANTIC MAKEUP.
Since LIPS are the easiest way to decorate your face (more so than creating a complicated winged or smokey eye) I’m sharing a few of my personal faves in the lip color category as of recently.
From a simple glossy nude to a bold lip that dares you to stop staring, there should be some POUT inspo for everyone!
And before I get down to it, don’t forget, always use a good lip scrub atleast twice a week to exfoliate your smoocher so these colors look their best on. Flakey lips + lip color = tragic.
Okay keep reading to see what my Top 5 Pretty Romantic Lip Looks are and what their Kissable Rate is on a scale of 1 to 5 (5 being kiss friendly.)
*It Cosmetics Je Ne Sais Quoi Lip Treatment Serum, $29*
This is one of those pinks that like magic, adjusts to your lips and creates the perfect flush of pink!
It gives full rich and instant color correction along with lip-smoothing hydration. (their words, not mine, but very true!) The moment you apply this click pen of product, you see your lips transform!
It contains hyaluronic acid in it which is the stuff that’s in actual face fillers to plump up your skin. so it helps to create a healthy smooth lip with just enough color.
Kissable Rate : 5 – not messy or sticky and doesn’t transfer because it is more of a stain.
*Pat McGrath Lust Lip Gloss, in Dare To Bare, $28*
This gloss is for those that are feeling a hint of color, shimmer, and like dimension in their lip product. Also it’s for the gal that likes luxury makeup products because it is THE QUEEN of makeup Pat McGrath that created this formula.
The “Dare To Bare” is described as a “peach nude with gold pearl” and I couldn’t have described it better myself. It’s just warm enough to give your lips a healthy look but not overdone.
Also super nourishing but is thicker than most glosses. However this gel like texture is what gives it such a shiny almost glass-like appearance. I love it, but your significant other might just want to look but not touch;) It does smell like confetti-cake-like IMO which is delightful!!
Kissable Rate : 2 – definitely can tell you’ve got something on your lips and whoever you kiss, it’ll leave a wet mark.
*Lawless Soft Matte Liquid Lip, $28 in “Prince.”*
This brand gets the Clean Seal of approval from Sephora as a cruelty free product. Free of all the buzz words that some prefer these days for the makeup to be made without like Sulfates, parabens, coal tar, etc.
I bought it strictly for the color though – it’s deep, but BRIGHT berry shade! Prince is definitely a show stopper and looks very sophisticated with its comfortable matte finish. I bought this after seeing a friend wearing it and I had to have it once I saw her in it.
Kissable Rate : 4 – once this dries it has good staying power and isn’t super transferrable.
*Maybelline Hot Laquer in “Too Cute,” $7*
Nothing beats a white-based pink in terms of a girly lip look for me.
I own these Maybelline lacquers in a few shades and as you can see it’s super reflective and opaque in color. This Too Cute shade is and just so cotton candy cute pink in my opinion! One swipe of this formula and you’re good to go for impact.
Kissable Rate : 2 – it’s going to get on your wine glass or partner for sure, so just keep it close by to reapply 😉
MAC Lady Danger, $18.50
Who says you can’t wear a bold red lip with a casual baseball cap??
The Lady Danger is a staple red in my lip collection due to it’s HOT red (slightly orange based) shade that pops. Your lips will not get ignored in this color and I love the matte finish that isn’t super drying. This shade deserves it’s iconic status because it’s been around for awhile and I don’t see it going anywhere soon.
Kissable Rate : 3 – because it is a matte formula it keeps it from transferring quickly but it’s brightness quality makes it hard to not share with others if you catch my drift:)
Happy Valentine’s Day!! How are you going to be celebrating? Other romantic lip color suggestions would be welcome in the comments below!
