Who doesn’t love a good BEAUTY DUPE?? You know, the budget friendly beauty product that performs just like the expensive high end version. We all want to save where we can and I’m a big fan of saving versus splurging when it comes to my cosmetics. I like the highs AND the lows!!
The reason why this post is titled #JennySueBeautySaves is because I’d like this to be a reoccurring theme of posts for when I find a really great beauty dupe that is comparable to a prestige brand product that I can share with you all. So if you like this concept, I’d love love to hear down in the comment section below so I’ll know if I should keep this up!
Now for my first installment of #JennySueBeautySaves, let’s talk about a fantastic eyebrow dupe.
Y’all know I preach CONSTANTLY on the importance of eyebrows – they’re the “framework of the face” if you need a refresher.
It’s so important to tidy them up (plucking, waxing, threading, whatever floats your boat), fill them in, and shape them up. But since I don’t have that many brow hairs left (after plucking the buh-Jesus out of them in high school and college), I’m more into filling mine in at this point.
This leads me to one of my all time favorite prestige products for faking brows – the Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade which sells for $18. I think I bought my very first pot of this stuff 5+ years ago. It’s one of those cult status beauty products like the Nars “Orgasm” blush and the DiorShow mascara (which I’m actually NOT a fan of but that’s neither here nor there).
Eighteen bucks isn’t super terrible for a prestige branded product, but lets do better. May I introduce you to the best beauty dupe I’ve found so far, the Milani Stay Put Brow Color, $7.
Here are some important features on each that will help you see the similarities and their differences…
COST : ABH is $18 for just the pot, Milani is $7 for the pot and the included applicator brush with spooly. Big score here to get the good applicator that’s actually really decent for such a cheap price. Normally I despise applicators that come with drugstore products, but this one is a keeper – ha!!
SIZE : ABH is .14 oz and the Milani is .09 oz. ABH wins in more product here, but still price per ounce, Milani is cheaper.
SHADES AVAILABLE : ABH has 11 total color options. Milani has 8 colors on their official website but only around 4-5 most popular colors on other retailers like Ulta and Target.
LONG WEAR : I’ve gone around and worn both products on each brow and they seriously stick around the same for me. One didn’t seem to wear better than the other in terms of longevity.
APPLICATION : They both apply similarly to me in terms of creaminess and pigment wise. No glaring differences whatsoever.
VERDICT : So all in all, I think it’s safe to go with the more affordable Milani version here and splurge your money elsewhere on your face! I can wear the brunette shade (as shown in all of these pics) as well as the soft brown shade which is the most universal color next to the taupe.
