Eyeshadow palettes are a great way to have multiple options for eye looks in one spot without having to buy individual shades and compacts.
Experimenting with different shades is half the fun for me when I get a new palette but for lots of women it tends to be intimidating. Most women find themselves scraping down to the pan of only 1 or 2 colors while the rest go virtually untouched!! Why? Because they have no idea what to do with the rest of them or how to combine them together!
So today I am going to show you how to use one palette of 12 shades with the Maybelline 24K Nudes palette, $11.
I will use all 12, in 3 different looks, using 4 shades in each look. Never repeating a shade! And there is a method for how to pick which ones and where to place them on your lid so you’ll never be confused again on how to use an eyeshadow palette!
Here are my tips for eyeshadow order when using 4 colors at once :
- Use your lightest shade of the 4 on the upper crease to brow bone area.
- The 2nd shade which should be a bit darker than the 1st, should go from your lash line to crease.
- The 3rd darker shade can be used on the outside of the eye in a sideways V shape to emphasize your crease area.
- The darkest of the 4 shades is used as a liner shade along the upper lash line and/or even the lower lash line.
Keep scrolling to see all 3 looks and how I created them…
1ST LOOK : MOD EYES
*Note – I wet my brush with water when I used the #4 shade which is usually the liner shade to amplify it and make it very strong. I only used the liner along the upper lash line and left the lower lash line bare with only mascara.
*Lip color – Nars lipgloss in “Turkish Delight.”
2ND LOOK : GOLDEN EYES
*Note – I used the #3 color, the burnt gold shade, also along my tear duct area and on the lower lash line.
*Lip color – L’Oreal Infallible 8 hr gloss in “Dulce De Leche.”
3RD LOOK : SMOKEY PLUM EYES
*Note – I really loaded on the plum color! It’s not as dark as it appears in the palette so I did add multiple layers to get it to this level of richness.
*Lip color – NYX soft matte lip cream in “Vancouver.”
There you have it!! Three looks from one palette!
While you may think some shades in even the eyeshadow palettes you already own were doomed to be ignored forever, hopefully this will help you to broaden your creativity with your palettes. Be creative and experimental!! That’s the fun part of makeup.
Have you tried this Maybelline palette yet?
(I received this palette as part of the Influenster program. However this is not a sponsored post – I just really loved how many options it gave me! )
