Leather pants and chambray shirts.
I call this my “cool mom” look combination!!
This duo is perfect for many occasions : when I’m going on a date night with my hubby, casual dinner with girlfriends, or to hit up a local event. Especially when I don’t have time to really think about my outfit…which is pretty often when you have 3 children and you’re trying to deal with finishing homework or getting someone a snack!! Ha! (If you’re a mom, you can totally relate to the line, “I’m hungry, can I have a snack?” and probably hear it more times than you can count!)
I can always throw on this denim shirt + leather pants as my go-to outfit. It feels put together, but not too fussy. The chambray shirt is one of those pieces EVERY gal should have in her closet because you can wear it alone or throw it over a tank like a jacket. And these days, you can wear a denim shirt almost anywhere and dress it up or down! A pair of leather pants might not seem so traditional but when paired with a casual top can actually be a funky addition to any outfit. Leather pants are definitely what make me feel instantly “cool girl” when I slide them on!
So this combo of chambray and leather can easily transitions from day to night by adding the following…
Casual:
- wear it with short black booties
- a pop of color fun crossbody bag
- flower stud earrings for a touch of girly
- nude lipstick
Dressier :
- sexy black heels (extra points for added spunk with the lace up version like I’m wearing!)
- a clutch bag (a fun color, print, or texture works here too! love the idea of a leopard clutch here)
- a big statement earring or necklace to dress up the top
- bold lip color like red or hot fuchsia
Or if you’re like me, you can combine elements of the casual and dressy together to get the perfect in between with your chambray and leather!! And of course a big pair of tortoiseshell sunnies work with both. These are two key element pieces I think every woman should have in her closet…a no-brainer outfit!
