Ben Nye Banana Powder : Nature’s perfect setting powder.
Ok, so this powder isn’t actually made from real bananas found in nature. But it is one of those “secrets of the stars” products that professional makeup artists always have in their kits. And it’s nothing new. The brand Ben Nye has been around for over 50 years and is very popular with the theater world and Hollywood.
Ben Nye’s Luxury Powder gives you reason to go bananas (couldn’t help it) due to its silky-fine, mattifying setting powder. It’s got a hint of yellow based color that will help keep you from getting that white cast you can get from other settings powders.
It is an immediate under eye brightener! This versatile shade suits a wide range of skin tones as it softly color corrects surface redness and pink undertones and can neutralize blue under eye circles. It’s also used by many makeup artists for high lighting and contouring. But it does come in 3 other shades if banana isn’t for you (mainly super fair skinned girls can’t pull it off, their Cameo shade is better).
Here’s how I use it with my everyday concealer routine.

- I apply my pinky based concealer (Maybelline Age Rewind in “brightener”) with a concealer brush.
- Then I add the banana powder on top of everywhere I played my concealer with this MAC brush – under the eyes, sides of nose, down center of nose, middle of chin, and along my jawline.
- I finish with a beauty blender sponge and press the powder into my concealer with a rolling motion, no swiping! Press it in to keep the concealer in place.
That’s it! This powder works for most skin tones – especially from light to dark and is truly one of my favorites. But like I said, the only people I have found it doesn’t work great with is truly fair skin.

Tip & Dupe :
You only need minimal amounts of it so this powder lasts a long time! And if you just aren’t sure you want to pay the almost $30 price tag for this name brand, I have read that ELF makes a pretty good dupe HERE (I haven’t personally tried it though just FYI).
