I love ALL lipglosses – shiny, sticky, sheer, and opaque! Give them all to me. But I know there are plenty of women out there that want color and shine, but with zero sticky that generally comes with most lip glosses.
So if this is you, let me introduce you to why a LIP OIL will be your latest obsession and solve all your lip gloss problems!
Lip oils are certainly having a moment and are seriously a great lip product option for these upcoming cold winter months. That’s because they’re a hybrid of a lip treatment and cosmetic…in one! They give beautiful shine, a little bit of stain, and with a silky hydrating feel.
So recently I finally decided to try the clean beauty brand that’s getting a lot of love lately, Merit, by the CEO of Who What Wear (Katherin Power). She designed this beauty brand to represent a “scaled-back, minimalist approach to beauty while prioritizing well-edited essentials that have earned a place on your vanity.”
I purchased the Shade Slick Tinted Lip Oil, $24, in shade “Sangria” which is a deep berry shade. Online and in person it reminds me of the old-school Almost Lipstick in “Black Honey” from Clinique! Remember that one from the 90’s? Which by the way has a resurgence in popularity and is still available.
But back to my Merit lip oil. I can vouch that it feels AH-Mazing and LOOKS amazing.
What I like about it:
- has zero scent
- has all the hydrating feel goodness of rosehip oil and shea butter
- gives a stained effect
- makes my lips feel instantly better
- makes my lips look like they’re literally glowing with sheer color
The only thing that could be better:
- longer wear. but I am not one that really minds reapplication especially when something looks and feels this good.
This is guaranteed to be my new fave no-fuss lip look this fall. That is due to it’s sheer, shiny, hint of deep berry that feels very much like a cashmere sweater and cozy fire kinda season!
Btw – Lip oils are also a really great option for teen girls who are just entering the world of makeup because they’re light and airy and typically sheer enough to look age appropriate. I’ve bought a handful of lip oil brands in the past, from Colourpop and Milani, so this isn’t my first rodeo with them! And I have used them both right down to the last drop.
Here is a short YouTube video from my channel showcasing how lip oils are 1 of the 3 beauty trends to hop on this fall and winter season! Watch below then keep reading for more lip oil recommendations.
