Hey friends! Today is the official first day of summer – June 21st.
Here in Georgia it has felt like summer for a couple months already with this heat though – yikes!
So as the sun has started to warm my skin, the days have gotten longer, and the time we have been spending outside has increased, my makeup has certainly changed.
I’m going to share with you a small curated collection of the summer makeup I have been wearing and why. It’s a group of 6 specific items I constantly gravitate towards that get a lot of face time!

Two of my favorite EYE MAKEUP products for these warm months have been a good waterproof mascara and a bronzey eyeshadow palette.
This Essence Lash Princess waterproof mascara not only sticks around when I start inevitably sweating, but it also gives MEGA lashes. Like seriously big and long eyelashes! The best thing about this waterproof mascara? It’s only $5 – not kidding. I tell everyone to try a tube at least once.
And then this Tom Ford shadow quad was a well-thought-out purchase because it was NOT cheap! If y’all follow me on most social media or on this blog, you know I’m typically very budget beauty heavy. But I had read great reviews about these quads made me more comfortable with the investment. And when I saw these bronzey shades of champagne, gold, copper, and warm chestnut brown, I just HAD to experience this for myself.
The more I use it, the more I love it. Yes, it’s crazy expensive, but if you wear eyeshadow everyday like I do, I found it to be an investment I am glad I made. And the pigments are just beautiful and next level – as they should be for this price tag, ha ha! They make my eyes look colorful and bright without having to swipe on much product, which is how I prefer my shadows in the summer.
When it comes to MY SKIN, I’ve fallen in love with adding a liquid bronzer (as opposed to a power bronzer) before my foundation routine. These Drunk Elephant Sunshine drops are seriously skin-changing! Watch my short video I did on them to see before and afters and how I applied.
I make it a point NOT to tan my face at all (due to not wanting any sun damage OR wrinkles) so I always need help bronzing up my face to match my chest and body.
These drops are fabulous because you can mix them in with just your face sunscreen for a warmer summer glow, or add them to your regular moisturizer before you apply any foundations. They’re super concentrated so you just have to test out how many drops will get to you to your perfect bronze.
These look beautiful and realistically bronze. No guesswork like with a self-tanner that you’re not sure if it’s going to apply evenly until hours later, because these bronze immediately. There’s no shimmer in it, just a bronze illumination. I can’t say enough good things about them – I will be using all year long.
When it comes to foundation, yes I still wear it in the summer, well because, 44 and I need to even out my skin complexion!! The L’oreal Age Perfect radiant serum foundation is my go-to because it’s not heavy, but great coverage, and the real kicker, is it has SPF 50!! I wear shade 40 natural buff currently. It’s a drugstore foundation that performs like a high end one IMO and has a luminous finish.
Funny enough, my last two products are both from Buxom Cosmetics! I wear blush EVERY day – it makes my face happy. I’ve become in love with their Wanderlust primer-infused blushes, specifically the color Seychelles. It looks like a bronzer online, but actually has a hint of mauve to it, which makes it a super wearable color.
And then if you haven’t tried the Buxom Powerfull Plump lip balms, you have to!! They feel amazing on with no stickiness whatsoever. For summertime, these balms are the perfect non-heavy lip look to wear with the benefit of a mild lip plumping tingle. I’m in the shade Dolly Fever which is a gorgeous just enough mauve color.
What’s been your go-to summer makeup product?
*Also, big news! I’ve joined the Style At A Certain Age team as their beauty contributor!
