CONCEALER is a complexion game-changer for brightening dark circles+ tired looking under eyes!
Sometimes, the questions arise of “But where do I put it??” and “What products should I use??” These questions confuse so many women to the point that they just omit concealer altogether. Big mistake, HUGE. Concealer is magical…when used correctly.
In this video, I share 3 simple tips that I use on myself and my more mature clients when taking care of those dreaded dark circles. Keep reading after you watch this how-to video for links to exact products and a brief explanation and recap.

*BEFORE any of the concealer steps take place, make sure you find your ideal concealer formula and shade!*
*Consistency. A lot of people think that a thicker formula will hide dark circles better. However, a creamy consistency is actually more ideal. The creamy and liquid concealers will wear more naturally under the eyes. Especially ones with more lines and wrinkles (the thicker waxier formulas tend to crease more in those places – NOT the goal!).
*Shade Choice. When picking a shade of concealer, here’s a simple formula. First, don’t go more than a shade or two lighter than your natural skin tone. It needs to be fairly close to it. Then, if you’re fair-skinned, go for pinkier colors, if you’re medium toned, try a salmon shade, and then olive and darker skin should go for peaches and orange-based concealers.
Step 1. Apply your foundation first, THEN concealer SECOND. I explain why during the video. Also, explained in this under 35 second video here. If you’re on the hunt for a great concealer, this is my favorite prestige formula and this is the Neutrogena one that got Glamour Magazine’s Best of Drugstore Beauty Award for 2021.
Step 2. Now start applying your concealer with a good brush. Using a tool like my fave here, is useful to diffuse the concealer and putting it exactly where it needs to go. In the case of women with prominent dark circles, the concealer should be put ONLY within the parameters of those dark circles. Once you start going outside of the darkness, and lightning outside of the hollows, the contrast is still there and you’re undoing what you’ve tried to cover up!
Step 3. Set your concealer with loose powder to make it stay put! I am a believer in setting your under-eye concealer (and really anywhere else concealer is applied on the face) with a lightweight loose powder. This step will help lock that creamy product in place. Just don’t overdo it if you have fine lines and wrinkles – again a lighter hand is best.
The loose powder (instead of pressed) also helps you to keep it looking more natural bc of the tiny particles dispersing more easily! Be sure to press and roll that powder in – like I show in the video – instead of just swiping over the surface of the skin, which isn’t as effective at locking in the product. I like to use these tiny miracle complexion sponges for the under eyes and smaller surface areas.
