Do you love the look of MATTE LIPSTICK, but just can’t seem to find the perfect formula and fit for your pout?? I think I have found one to end your search…
Welcome BACK to the blog my friends and Happy 2021!
I know it’s been a minute since I’ve typed out a proper blog post, but you know – the holidays!! There’s no grand excuse other than I had a million and one things to do from prepping the house for family members, get-togethers with friends I hadn’t seen in a while, Christmas shopping for all my loved ones (which I literally do right up until Christmas Eve, it’s insane), and my actual in-person makeup work with clients came back full swing, which I am SO grateful for.
Per usual, I ADORE the Christmas season but it can get super overwhelming with all there is to do to make it special, right??(especially after the year we had in 2020!)
But all that to say, I have missed writing and posting here. So as I ease back into the role as writer on my blog, I wanted to share a short post review + video on a new purchase I made before Thanksgiving that I thought you would enjoy knowing about.
It’s the Rare Beauty Lip Souffle Matte Cream Lipstick, $20 and it has really knocked my socks off for many reasons! If you dig the matte look, but can’t stand most matte formulas because they rob your lips of all their moisture, then this formula is for you.
Watch the video below to see a before and after and how it truly looks on moving lips, then continue to read on for more info…
What Is This Rare Beauty brand?
Rare Beauty is a fairly new cosmetics line that was launched in September of 2020 (during a pandemic!) by celebrity singer and entertainer Selena Gomez. She’s got an Instagram following of 2oo million. That’s more than Beyonce and Taylor Swift! So the girl inspires a lot of people.
Mission Behind Rare Beauty.
“We are on a mission to help everyone celebrate their individuality by redefining what beautiful means. We want to promote self-acceptance and give people the tools they need to feel less alone in the world. It is makeup made to feel good in, without hiding what makes you unique—because Rare Beauty is not about being someone else, but being who you are.”
I really dig Selena’s mission behind this brand! It was one of the main reasons I wanted to try it.
Is It Affordable?
For being sold only on Sephora.com I think the price point is really good and on the lower end of most of their brands sold. They range anywhere from her foundation sponge at $14 up to the max of $25 for shadow palettes and $29 for the weightless foundation (that comes in 48 shades I might add). And the matte lip souffle I’m giddy over is $20.
One of my other higher end matte faves is the Nars Matte Velvet Lip Pencil that runs $27 for comparison…but the Rare Beauty is better IMO and more hydrating, but doesn’t have as many color offerings…yet. Fingers crossed she’ll add more as the brand evolves.

Why I think this MATTE LIPSTICK trumps all others.
