It’s not often I talk about how to do a quick makeup routine.
Applying lots of makeup is one of those things I enjoy doing and prefer to take my time when I do it. Especially back during the start of Covid in March and April, I had nuthin’ but time to play around with my makeup! And yes, I wore makeup everyday bc it was the only normal thing going on and the routine of it kept me sane.
I explain more on the mental health topic of keeping up with my beauty routine during Covid here in my Medium article if you’d like to read it.
But now that school has started back for my kiddos, their after-school activities in full swing, back to visiting family and friends, working with clients – some days just don’t allow for a casual 25-minute makeup session! I’ve got places to be and things to go and do!
Today’s video and blog post are all about the exact products that I reach for when time is not on my side.
These items give me a simple but polished makeup look. And the great thing is, they’re all under $20! Watch the video then keep scrolling to shop the products mentioned.
Shop My Quick Makeup Routine Products :
Morphe Micro Brown Pencil // Pixi Beauty Honey Nectar Quad // NYX Cosmetics BB Cream “natural” // Makeup Revolution concealer “C5” shade // Rimmel London Lash Accelerator mascara // L’Oreal shadow singles “paris beach” // Revlon lip gloss in “Rosy Future” // Real Techniques sponge + mini sponges
Using all of these products takes me only about 6 minutes to apply.
I actually timed myself AFTER I did this video to see just how fast I could do every single step and it was a bit over 5 minutes. This is really good considering my typical makeup routine can take me 20 minutes plus!! I blame liquid eyeliner for the amount of time I sometimes spend on my makeup…
Here’s a quick breakdown of what you saw in the video and the steps + products I used for my super simple look…
Brows : I used the $5 Morphe pencil to quickly fill in my brows. Using a shade just a bit lighter than your natural brow hair color will help with keeping the full brow realistic looking and any mistakes won’t be as noticeable! If you struggle with filling in eyebrows, I made this YouTube video that includes my super-secret fave brow trick that you can do with any type of eyebrow product.
Skin : I have found that using a lightweight BB cream applied with a sponge is the quickest way to get better looking than bare skin! (Excuse the state of my sponges in these pics. They have clearly been “loved” and now seeing them in the photos is a reminder it might be time to wash them, ha ha!!) Spot treating my under eyes with a few dots of concealer (after the BB cream) is also a necessary step that is an immediate eye boost.
Eyes + Cheeks : Using the Pixi Beauty quad of bronzer, blush, and two highlighters is a quick and easy way to add color to your eyes and cheeks with the ease of ONE palette! And I’m obsessed with this one right now. Y’all know I love using my bronzers as the perfect brown eyeshadow and made a video showing unique ways to use your bronzer here. And then of course, when time is of the essence, it’s okay to rub your blush brush into the cheek color AND highlighter and then swipe them on at once!!
Of course we can’t forget mascara and if you can take a few extra seconds to curl your lashes before applying mascara, I promise you it’s worth it for the bright eyed and longer looking lashes outcome! Check out this video on the cheap way to longer looking lashes where I share the trick for using an eyelash curler correctly!
Lips : A neutral gloss is always a good idea when you’re in a hurry and have no time for fussy lipstick and liner. This Revlon one in “Rosy Future” has been a go-to of mine for years now and provides just enough lip color with its warm pearly pink-mocha shade.
