Daily beauty TOOLS, not actual cosmetic + makeup products, are most often times the unsung champions of our beauty routines.
You know the behind the scenes tools like makeup brushes, hair brushes, and curling irons of the world. But for some reason, we don’t talk enough about or give these types of tools we use on the daily enough credit!!
Today I would like to give love to one specific tool that I use every single day that makes the BIGGEST difference in my eyelashes….my EYELASH CURLER.
It’s a non-negotiable step in my makeup application to use this tool and once I find one I like, it’s hard to stray and try new ones.
I just repurchased the cult favorite, this Shiseido one, $22 because I had lost it somehow/somewhere between one of my makeup jobs. (Insert emoji with hand slapping face) I also have the Kevyn Aucoin one, $21, which I do like, but girlfriend needs options and I missed my Shiseido one so much that I bought another.
What’s the big deal about eyelash curlers??
I, like most women, have fairly straight lashes in their natural state. Mascara can only do so much to amplify those lashes when they’re just sticking out horizontal. That’s WHY an eyelash curler is a MUST if you want to get more compliments on your eyelashes.
The bend this tool gives not only makes your actual eye bed appear more wide awake and open, it also gives the illusion of your lash hairs being that much longer as they point towards the heavens!
Good thing about lash curlers – they’re usually pretty indestructible and can last a few years. And the ones that come with replaceable pads are an extra bonus because that part can wear down quickly. But the mechanics of a good lash curler should last you awhile.
There is a trick method for better curl…
Don’t just squeeze one good time in the middle of your lash line and be done with your eyelash curler. Nope, you’re just wasting your time.
The curl will eventually fall throughout the day because the tops of your lashes are heavy and haven’t been curled thus weighing down the rest of the lash line.
Here’s what you should do : Squeeze at three different sections – start at base, hold for 5 seconds, then unclamp, move to the middle of lash line, repeat for 5 seconds, unclamp, repeat at the tips of the lashes. Now you have a true curled lash all the way up!
Also, please only curl bare lashes then apply mascara. I know some people curl after mascara is applied but that totally freaks me out and you’ll eventually pull lashes out bc the mascara will make your lashes stick to the tool and then YANK…
Are you convinced you need to add this beauty tool into your regime?? It makes a world of difference I promise.
If you have never used one and are still hunting around for the perfect one I suggest you try these top picks from Shiseido, Kevyn Aucoin, Tweezerman ProCurl, and Surratt Beauty.
