Valentine’s Day makeup should be romantic. And there’s nothing more romantic (and easy!) to pull off than ROSY LIPS AND CHEEKS.
Since love is in the air about this time of year, lets give some props to the thing we can always count on to make us feel truly loved and confident…MAKEUP!!
Even if Cupid’s Day isn’t your thing and you’d actually rather be spending it with your girlfriends OR you’ve got a hot date planned with your perfect person, you’re gonna want a “look” to celebrate with! (No overpriced Hallmark cards or chocolates needed….okay maybe keep the chocolates.”
Looking like you just got smooched by that special someone that made you blush, is the perfect Valentine’s Day makeup look.
It should be a well known fact by now that I dig any beauty product that has multiple uses and functionality. (Remember this post on the Pixi Cheek Stain + this multitasking miracle water product.)
And I am forever using my lip products as cheek tints. Mainly in the lipstick or lip stain formulas to be clear, because glosses can get messy on the cheeks! Using one product to do two areas of the face like lips and cheek is just the sort of thing that makes getting ready a snap.
I used this ELF Cosmetics Matte to Shimmer transformer lip palette in the Berry shades, to give my pout and cheekbones some extra oomph!
I love it because I can customize my look with all 4 colors and then add the shimmer gloss to my lips if I want to or just keep them matte. TIP : keeping this formula matte will result in less makeup on your special someone or on wine glasses!!
How I use it: A little goes a long way. Just a couple dabs with my ring finger in two of the colors (ya’ll know I like to mix) gave my lips the perfect shade to match my sweater. I mixed the top two lightest shades of pink and magenta together. The colors blend in seamlessly and melt into your skin resulting in the perfect rosy cheeks! I even dabbed a hint of the shimmer gloss onto the center of my lips and very tops of my cheekbones.
My tips for making this romantic enough for your Valentine’s Day makeup look…
1. Prep your skin by adding a great moisturizer to help the cheek color glide on. This is a great one for dry skin and this one for oily skin.
2. To create a flawless canvas before you apply the paint, use a light foundation, tinted moisturizer, or bare skin. (powder foundations would make it look too cake-like once applied on top)
3. Smile, and then with a clean finger, put your color on the apples of your cheeks by dabbing (no swiping!). Start lightly (you’ll be surprised how vibrant the color will show up) and if you want a deeper color, just repeat this step.
4. For lips, dab the color in middle of your lips, then lightly spread outward. You can still use your fingers or a lip brush if you want a cleaner application!
(Pink sweater is c/o Tobi Clothing, is currently on sale for $30 and I am wearing a small for reference. It’s just the coziest and the color is beautiful in person. Perfectly pink for Valentine’s Day!)
