With a new year up on us, it’s time for you to lock down that go-to beauty product that is going to jazz up your current ho-hum makeup routine!
So if you are wondering where you could start doing something different with your everyday makeup – I say give a fresh new eyeliner shade a try. And I have found a universal eyeliner color that will flatter ANY face and ANY color of eyes – seriously.
Let me introduce you to the color, PLUM.
I’m using NYX Slide on Glide on liner in color “Jewel” specifically in this post. This has been a fave of mine for awhile and has been very hard to find anywhere lately but I did find it here on Macys.com for $8. It’s a soft mulberry/plum shade with a slight hint of shimmer in it to make your eyes sparkle. But I will leave other options below as well in this color category.
Plum is a color option that will be what you reach for when you’re just sick and tired of boring ole brown and black.
And the great thing about using a fun color like this, you really don’t even have to bother with trying to do your eyeshadow!! The plum color provides enough interest and contrast to eye color, that you can just add mascara and go.
I kept the rest of my look at a minimum, making my gaze the star of the show! Just add a light pink lip, cheek, and lots of mascara. I used Physician’s Formula Lash Extension kit set that I still love despite how it can be a bit messy at times 🙂 My Youtube tutorial on it here.
It’s a well known fact that jewel toned eye makeup is all the rage right now and heading into spring. Using a plum/amethyst type shade helps you nail this trend no matter what you look like!!

What do you think about this shade? Would you wear it?
*Extra credit technique* Although I only have concealer on my entire eyelid, I did end up putting metallic highlighter added to the inner corners of my eyes for a hint of sparkle. I used my pinky finger and dabbed it into my highlighter from my “Je Ne Sais Quois” pallette from it Cosmetics I raved about over on my YouTube video here.
If you’re interested – my nail color is Essie “Romper Room” and my favorite earring studs of all time are Stella & Dot the Nancy studs.
