This is NOT your average TOPKNOT.
Why just go for a regular bun when you can have an extreme braided topknot instead?
The braids and bun combos are being seen everywhere because for one, they’re gorgeous and super fun, and two they show off your face and makeup better than long hair left flowing around your face. I was so thrilled when I got the chance during New York Fashion Week to get into the Tresemme salon in the big fashion tent and get my hair did!
When I met with my stylist Yojanse Jimenz (he’s done some major hair for well known fashion collaborations & brands like Reebok and Project Runway), I told him I wanted something “funky.” And funky he gave me!! This is definitely not an everyday look for me, but I was in freaking NYC for fashion week so I was out of my comfort zone already, so why not go full tilt to the extreme!!
When you are in the mood to make a real statement, this cornrow and topknot combination should be your go-to. Without a doubt, you’ll feel like coolest chick in the room. I kid you not, I probably got at least 5 compliments throughout the day after walking around the streets of New York with this do. Which I actually wrapped up with a scarf and slept in that night so I could wear it onto the plane next day back home to Athens…worked like a charm.
My not so average smokey eye.
I was wearing a killer navy blue smokey eye that day , so I felt that this hairstyle really showed that off by getting my locks back off of my face. If you want to see a previous blog post I did on this blue inspired eye, check out my how-to post HERE. It includes all of the eye makeup products I used also.
Now I have NO idea how to recreate this hairstyle again myself, but I did find a similar more simple version of this reverse braided topknot here on Coveteur.com . When I get an extra hour to myself one day I will try this!
