Important bridal makeup tips, tricks, and products for your Cinderella moment.
Of all days you want your makeup to be just perfect, it’s on your wedding day. When the love of your life looks into your eyes to say “I DO,” you want to make sure that those eyes, skin, and lips, are on point. Because let’s be real, your spouse is not looking down at your feet to see what shoes you chose or what types of flowers you are holding, they’re looking into your FACE! That’s why making sure you have the right tools, techniques, and products are so key!
After doing weddings for over 12 years now, I know a thing or two about what brides are looking for…
- Longevity. Is it going to last all day and into the night? What products should make that happen? Primer, primers, and more primers. And did I mention products that say longwear and waterproof??
- Will it look good in pictures. You want to make sure you don’t look washed out in photos and there are a few tips to make sure that doesn’t happen. Did you know that SPF can cause that white-ish cast in flash photography? So skip those products that contain sun protection just for the day. And because we all know that sometimes makeup that seems more dramatic in person is actually not dramatic enough to show up on camera. That being said, definitely do a trial run before the big day and have a friend take your pic so there are no surprises/disappointments with your makeup on the day of.
- Glamour. How to look a little bit (or a lot!) more glamorous than you do in everyday life. Two words – false lashes.
Recently I answered the longevity and the looking good in pictures question with this Instagram video below – be sure to press play on the arrow and make sure you are following my new account here @JSMminute

Another important bridal makeup tip…wear false lashes!
When answering how to get a little bit more of a glamorous touch to your makeup for your wedding day without going too far with overdone contouring and super dark colors, I say add FALSE EYELASHES! They are easier to apply than you think and make a HUGE impact. Just take a look at my gorgeous bride Ami, and what a good set of lashes did to make her eyes pop!!
When it comes to false lashes there are so many styles out there that look natural enough that no one will guess you are wearing falsies. My biggest tip – apply the strip AFTER the rest of your eye makeup is done, so that the strip has something to grab onto and land on. For a more natural wispy look – leave them be after applying, or for extra added drama, swipe a coat of mascara or two.
Here’s how to apply them and a couple of my favorite styles…
