Blogger Beauty Standards : Meet Luisa Hammett
Have you ever met someone for the first time and immediately knew that you wanted to be her friend? That was me when I met Luisa of the blog Peaches To Pearls. I first met her at the Southern Blog Society conference we were both members of. We were sitting in a big theater hall and I was seated right behind her waiting for the speakers to begin. I said out loud that I had a screaming headache and that I needed Advil in the worst way, in which she immediately turned around and said, “I have some you are welcome to!” and immediately passed some over. What an angel. Her petite nature and big smile make her the most likable gal ever. She treated everyone that entire weekend like a good friend. And I found out we both have a thing for tiny dogs – I have a papillon and she has 2 yorkies 🙂 We dog people stick together.
Luisa is kicking off my new series “Blogger Beauty Standards.” I am going to introduce bloggers to you that I believe are inspiring, original, and beautiful women inside (most importantly) and out. Plus I am going to ask them some questions to let you get to know a little bit more about them and how beauty plays into their lives and blogs. Some of them I have met in person, and some only over our interactions via the world wide web!
Ok, lets meet my friend Luisa…
Introduce yourself and Where did you grow up?
Hi friends! My name is Luisa from Peaches to Pearls blog based in Atlanta. I was born in Colombia but grew up in Destin, Florida. I recently finished my Masters in Clinical Nutrition at Georgia State University and a dietetic internship at Southern Regional Emory Medical Center. I am passionate about food and fashion and love to share that through my blog.
What is the name of your blog and how did you come up with the name?
I came up with my blog name, Peaches to Pearls, while brainstorming with my best friend one night. I wanted something that would describe what my whole blog was about- food meets fashion!
Who did you learn about makeup application from?
I learned any and all my make-up techniques from my younger sister, Julie Anne.
Is there a standard of beauty you abide by?
Absolutely, SPF and coconut oil. I do not leave home without either of those. It hurts to say it but I should have listened to my Mother all those times she told me to put sunscreen on my face! ☺
Is makeup or beauty a part of your blog at all?
Beauty is definitely part of my blog because I am an advocate of eating and feeling pretty. Nutrition goes hand in hand with feeling your best. If you are healthy on the inside, it will show on the outside. (Check out her post on creating your own Mason Jar Salad – it’s so brilliant and creative and yummy looking!)
Which is more important to you – hair or makeup?
They are both very important to me BUT if I had to pick, hair. I have always taken very good care of my hair and have an obsession with hair care products.
Name your three favorite makeup products and why
- IT Cosmetics “Bye Bye Under Eye”– this stuff is magical! A tiny dot goes a long way.
- Eyebrow shadow- I have big, thick eyebrows, which I love to fill in with eyebrow shadow. I feel naked without this product!
- Vapor Organic Beauty Foundation– This foundation is amazing for really dry skin like mine. It gives your skin that dewy, moist look!
Biggest beauty blunder you have ever made
Probably dying my hair black when I was younger. For some reason I thought it would look natural and cover my highlights but instead it stained my hair and took forever to grow out.
What does your skincare routine look like (day and night)?
Since I have super dry skin my routine is centered around moisture. I use a cream based L’Occitane cleanser, followed by L’Occitane hydrating oil and finish up with coconut oil. I also use a Clarisonic 1-2 a week to get rid of dead skin!
Biggest fashion and/or beauty tip you swear by
Take the time to properly moisturize!!
Do you exercise? If so, what’s your favorite way to be active?
I love Pure Barre! I think its such a feminine, fun but difficult way to get fit!
What do you love most about your look? (And yes there is something! Don’t be shy)
I love going for the “natural” look! It might look natural but in reality I have tons of make up on! ☺
Do you have any pets or children? Two fur babies- Henry and Heidi for now! (You can see these cuties on her blog here.)
If there is only one thing you would like readers to take away from following your blog, what would that be?
I want my readers to leave my blog feeling like I’m their new, upbeat friend that perhaps taught them something new!
Celebrity beauty crush – who is it?
Beauty blogger Sazan Hendrix is my beauty crush! She is stunning and seems like a lot of fun!
What is your favorite social media outlet? I love Instagram and Snapchat – @PeachestoPearls (Follow her! She seriously has the most beautiful Instagram feed and her food excursions on Snapchat will make you sooo hungry!)
Thanks bunches Luisa!
