Just recently my 38 year old self has become determined to reduce my eye wrinkles.
Or “smile lines,” as some would like to positively describe them, or the ugly version, “crows feet.” So when I was approached about trying the Tria Age Defying Eye Wrinkle Correcting Laser that was supposed to treat and reduce eye wrinkles, I figured, well why not! It included a LASER I could use at home, by myself, and I found that pretty fascinating. I’m always game for a beauty treatment that has the potential to take a few years off this face. Especially since the eyes are one of the first things to show signs of getting older, AND it didn’t involve taking an expensive trip to the dermatologist office.
When I first opened the box.
This Wrinkle Correcting Laser came in a cute rectangle box. When I opened it, I was surprised at how tiny the laser itself was. Like, palm of my hand tiny. (Which hello, fast forward to a beach trip we took while I was in the middle of my treatment, and it was super easy to pack up and took up no room in my luggage at all!)
It also came with a charging cord, an eye cream with a silver cooling tip, and a very detailed instruction booklet. Because let’s be real, I wanted to make sure I was using this thing by the book and not messing anything up!
My 8 week experience.
I had read up on this device and knew that is wasn’t going to be any trip to the spa in terms of how good, or not good, it was going to feel on the initial use. So I had prepared myself.
If you have been following me on Snapchat, 8 weeks ago you might have seen my first snap of how this went down. If I’m being completely honest, on a scale of 1-10, 10 being pretty painful, I’d give it a 9 for how it felt the first few nights I used it. I was even direct message Snapchatting a few of my fellow Power Primpers (the other beauty experts like myself from Pretty In My Pocket who were doing the same treatment as me) to see if they were experiencing similar feelings. They did, and all of them said it subsided after a few days. Ok, good to know.
I would compare it to rubber bands snapping my face – or maybe getting a face tattoo. I have 2 small tattoos, so I know what that feels like – not on my face however, just a guess. Luckily, the renewal eye cream is a savior because it immediately dulls any discomfort with its cooling properties due to the metal applicator. I look forward to using that thing all the time now – it feels so good!
After the first week of using every night, it was no big deal. I have birthed 3 children, I wasn’t going to let a tiny laser pain keep me from achieving wrinkle-less eyes! No pain no gain right?
Like any other beauty treatment and skincare product that you want to see results from, you HAVE to use it consistently. And in this case, every single night for 8 weeks, but only once a day (at night) for only 2 minutes – 1 minute per eye. Totally doable and not a huge time commitment at all.
I think I missed one night due to being out too late and not even wanting to remove my shoes when I got home I was so tired, but other than that, I never missed a night!
Check out week 1 compared to week 8 – pretty good right? You can definitely see major softening of lines. (aaand I can see my gray hair needed coloring by week 8 – yikes!)
How the Tria Age Defying Eye Wrinkle Correcting Laser works.
This handy gadget basically works like the lasers a professional would use in an office environment. It’s FDA approved and is a non-ablative laser. Which simply put means the wavelength of the laser heats up the water in the skin tissue causing a stimulation of the creation of new collagen. Collagen is basically what keeps our skin plump to make it look more youthful with less lines. You will use this laser for a straight 8 weeks, then take a 4 week break in between treatments.
You have to be patient with the results – I didn’t see squat for the first 3 weeks. Then, after week 4, it was like “Oh, yeh, the wrinkles ARE starting to look softer and not as obvious!” Which completely had me gung-ho with continuing on!
Final thoughts.
I’m pretty amazed at the results. I knew not to be completely unrealistic to think it would erase them completely like a Magic Eraser erases things off of my walls, but it certainly did soften them tremendously. I have been using eye creams for forever and although they do condition and hydrate my eyes, they have never taken away any wrinkles. This Tria Beauty laser did actually diminish a few of them and did more than any eye cream ever has. This above pic is proof of that, because usually when I smile this big, all I see is eye wrinkles!!
Now that it’s time to take my 4 week break with this treatment, I will definitely be excited to start it up again. Why? Because I know it works, and I have the luxury of treating such an annoying beauty problem right from the comfort of my own home!
My question to you is, have YOU ever tried Laser treatment before for reducing eye wrinkles? At home or in an office? If so, what was your experience?
