Winter skincare is totally different for me than during the warmer months.
Just like you wouldn’t wear your tank top and flip flops in January, you gotta switch up your skincare. And cold weather is the WORST on my dry skin.
Do you ever wake up on a winter morning and feel like your face is just tight as a rubber band and flaky as old paint chipping off a wall? Yeh, mine does. I am not a fan of these 20 degree temps here in Georgia (what?!) which is what is causing my face to feel this way.
But luckily there are is hope for my dehydrated skin! I have recently switched up a few products in my winter skincare routine for the colder weather. As temperatures take a nose-dive, so does my skin’s moisture.
Here is how I am caring for my face right now to fight off the parched itchy skin to reveal smooth dewy skin …
My Glowing Winter Skincare Cocktail of Products :
- Cleansing : Boots No. 7 Cleansing Oil. This has been the biggest shocker of all three that I have enjoyed. Usually I want a foam cleanser to feel that my skin is actually getting clean (it’s all mental) but this oil has become my new fave. You apply the oil on dry skin with dry hands, rub in real good, then I wash off with a warm wash cloth (no hot water, that’s dehydrating!) and you can see all the makeup melt away. After using this for a month now, I almost don’t want to go back to regular face wash because my skin never feels tight after washing anymore. Oh, and the oil scent blend of vitamin E ad rosehip oil is truly divine and feels like you’re using some fancy expensive face wash!
- Exfoliating : Dermalogica Microfoliant I was introduced to this product years ago and just recently started up using it again. I love it because it goes on like powder but then turns slightly foamy once water is added. Not harsh whatsoever with its microfine granuals that are super gentle and gives your skin a lovely smooth finish. I keep this in my shower and use it every day. Has zero scent.
- Moisturizer : Derma E Hydrating Day Creme with Hyaluronic Acid They say that hyaluronic acid is the latest and greatest anti-aging ingredient you need to have in your skincare routine. (remember my post including it in my winter beauty trends?)
- According to TV’s fave doctor, Dr. Oz, “Hyaluronic Acid is tried and true and seriously good for your skin. First off, don’t let the word “acid” fool you. Hyaluronic acid isn’t harsh or skin-stripping at all. In fact, it’s the exact opposite – a powerful humectant (aka moisture-binding ingredient) that keeps skin plump and hydrated and, yes, young-looking.” That’s good enough for me!! It has been hard to find a daytime one I like because usually it’s the night creams that contain this. But after reading multiple reviews on this Derma E one online, I decided to give it a try and was very pleased. And it smells yummy and fresh too. I’m already on my 2nd jar.
