Gold eyeliner is an easy way to brighten up your eyes. I mean it’s GOLD for goodness sakes! How could something metallic and shiny NOT make your eyes feel and look full of sparkle and shine?!
Anyone can wear this shade and it is simple to pull off. Here is how to rock a gold eye look without looking gaudy….
The first part of creating this subtle but smoldering look, is with two warm shades of brown and gold eyeshadows :
- My first lash to crease color is one of my all time favorite deep golds, L’Oreal Infallible in “Eternal Sunshine,” $7.99. This color is so beautiful on every single skin tone & eye color. You can add a little bit of water to the brush (like I did here) and it makes it even more pigmented!
- I then added a second matte (no shimmer) darker shade to accentuate my crease. The warm orange-y brown crease color is MAC Pro Longwear shadow in “Uninterrupted.” I added a slant by using a straight edge to create a sharper more dramatic look. (Tip : you can use a business card, post it note, or edge of any paper product to achieve this. As you can see I used the edge of the card my bobby pins came on – whatever works!!! )
Now’s it’s time for the fun part. The extreme midas touch gold eyeliner…
The two golds used and their comparison swatches from left to right :
- My magical gold eyeliner is Bare Minerals Round The Clock 5am Intense Cream Eye Liner in “Metallic Champagne,” $16, is a cooler shade of gold. (FYI – this shade is available for purchase ONLINE ONLY as linked above from Ulta.com.)
- The L’Oreal eyeshadow is on the right which is a warmer yellow based gold.
I lined the entire outline of the eye from the underneath lower lash line and then the upper lash line also. Really focusing in on the tear duct. Get as close to both lash lines as possible. Smudge with your finger if you want when finished. This eyeliner is super creamy however very budge proof once it is set so work fast.
Add lots of black mascara on uppers and lower lashes! I used Kevyn Aucoin’s The Essential Mascara in Rich Pitch Black, $32. It is ah-mazing, as you can see in these photos!
This golden eye will be perfect for wearing during the upcoming holiday months and parties. Even if adding just a touch of gold in the inner tear duct is how you want to go, it will do amazing things to bring dull eyes to life.
