Lately I have been wanting to be experimental with more colorful shades on my eyelids and summer time seems like the perfect time to sport something new and fresh!
Do you get bored with the same old taupes and brown shadows like I do, despite their ease of wearing everyday? Well if you do, and you want eyes that get noticed, try a green eyeshadow. There are all sorts of shades of green out there from grass green, mint green, turquoise green, yellow green, you get my drift.
Of course your green eye makeup doesn’t have to be as out there as this look I’m wearing, but if you’re going to go green, go big or go home, right?!!
Here is a look at a recent mint green and teal combo eye makeup look I sported as well as some green eyeshadow suggestions for you at the bottom of this post if you’re feeling experimental.
It’s summer for goodness sakes, the time to play around and have fun with colorful makeup!
My look is obviously on the extreme end of green but you can also wear this shade in a variety of ways. Just check out these celeb looks below – from just one swipe of green liner along the lashes like Eva Mendes (do upper or lowers, your pick!) or wear a darker shade of green with shimmer all around the eyes and closer to the lash line like Emma Stone.
Who can wear green eyeshadow? Everybody!! You just have to know which shades of green to choose. Here’s my easy breakdown :
Brown Eyes – Luckily, us brown eyed ladies can wear any shade of green we are comfortable with, from mint green like mine to a deep black emerald green! Try : My absolute favorite neutral taupey brown with a hint of green that truly works for every eye color, MAC “Club,” $16. It’s a great way to ease into green!!
Green/Hazel Eyes – Yes this seems tricky because it’s a similar shade to your eyes so you want to find a green that isn’t the exact same. So if you’ve got true green or hazel eyes, go for more gold based khaki greens to bring out any yellow around the iris . Try : Urban Decay “Sideline,” $18.
Blue Eyes – Go for a green that is softer than your blue eyes such as an aqua green, grey or silver green. Try : Buxom “Iridescent Mint,” $12.
What I’m Wearing :
Eyeshadows : Two shades of mint and teal from an old Bobbi Brown palette, alternative here Nars “Cleo” Duo, $34 // Teal eyeliner : Urban Decay “Mainline,” $19 (bottom of my lash line and inner waterline) // Black eyeliner : Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in “Trooper,” $18 (upper lash line) // Foundation : Make Up For Ever HD foundation in #120, $54 // Blush : Bobbi Brown Cream Blush in “Pale Pink” $29 // Lips : Maybelline Elixir gloss in “Breathtaking Apricot” $8 // Brows : LORAC Pro Brow pencil in “brunette” $19
Lashes – Esqido mink lashes in style “Unforgettable.” I have talked about this brand many times before and they’re gorgeous and can be reused multiple times when taken off carefully. They’re the perfect finishing touch to those green eyes!
GIVE GREEN A CHANCE!!
