Have you ever wondered what it would be like to attend a blogger conference? Imagine this – Everyone is looking at their phone the entire time, but no one judges you for it. You are surrounded by like minded people who want to take the best selfies possible (and multiple takes at that) and Instagram at every chance they get.
I often feel guilty if I want to stand up in a chair and take a pic of my cute plate of food I got at a hot new restaurant even around my best of friends. But not around fellow bloggers. They ask if they can hold the chair for you while you stand up!!
So here is a grand photo recap of my weekend spent in the cutest city on earth, Charleston, SC, for the Southern Blog Society conference. If you don’t believe me, Travel & Leisure just named it the #1 city in America. There you go. Get ready, there are lots o pictures to look through!
First of all, I had the BEST roommate, Lauren from the fashion blog, Edit By Lauren, who was like rooming with a mini Nordstrom and personal stylist. Well that makes sense because Lauren IS a wardrobe stylist in Atlanta, and had a collection of accessories and bags anyone would be envious of. Girl came prepared! Wish I could have her living next door to me all of the time!
We stayed at the super fab Belmond Charleston Place. Gosh, if I could go back there I would in a heartbeat. It was the ultimate in luxury. Lauren and I are both moms, so being in a place that caters so well to you when you’re used to catering to others, is a dream come true!
That chandelier in their lobby had me wishing I could add a light fixture that grand in my own home without it looking out of place! And the abundance of mirrors throughout the inside of our room was very welcome for all of our outfit changes. (If you like my brand new Nike Pegasus ’83s, you can find them at Zappos.com here. I’m obsessed with their crisp look of black and white and their overall retro style, but they come in a plethora of other colors!)
Here is a look back at the events from the conference plus photos of my outfits I wore and some of the makeup product details I used over the weekend.
When we arrived for the first night, there was a cocktail meet and greet hosted by Swoozies. They carry and create just the cutest cocktail napkins and party stuff ever.
I wore a chartreuse Adelyn Rae dress from The Stylist LA. My accessories were this Diane Von Furstenberg metallic cork clutch with my python and silver heels by Anne Michelle (which are currently on sale for $15 now, what?!!). My silver bangle bracelet is Kendra Scott.
It’s all about mixing the higher priced items with the lower ones!
The second day was when we were in session listening to speakers and brands and learning everything from photography tips to tax tips. Yes bloggers pay taxes. We also got hooked up with some swag from the brands and sponsors in attendance. Big blogger perk.
I was in an Astr dress from Nordstrom (mine currently unavailable but they have tons of cute ones at amazing price points here), with my Steven madden ankle strapped heels, and this cross body Chloe leather bag.
Lauren and I made a new friend in Taylor from the Style Souffle. This was probably the biggest benefit of attending a blogger conference was just making new connections with other bloggers. It’s all about the networking people!
That evening after mingling with the brands, we went out to dinner at the cool, yummy, laid back Fleet Landing. I definitely recommend this place if you are visiting Charleston as it’s on the water, service is top notch, and the food is to die for.
I chose this casual lemon yellow Bar 3 dress from Macy’s that was probably my favorite dress of the weekend! I paired it with comfy Tory Burch sandals (hello, wearing heels for over 7 hours before that!) and this mint green Kendra Scott necklace and these matching stack rings and iridescent gold bangle, that were c/o Kendra Scott.
I got lots of comments when I posted these pics just about my hair and how did I get it to look like this.
I got these waves by using my Conair curling wand in the 1″ barrel. The secret? Curl your pieces back away from your face instead of towards the front and vary the size of the pieces of hair you curl.
Makeup deets : Eyeshadows used from the original Naked Urban Decay palette, Nars “Orgasm” blush, bronze glowing skin thanks to LORAC TANtalizer, and lips finished off with NYX “tres leches” intense butter gloss.
On the last day we had a goodbye breakfast hosted by Hallmark Signature and I wanted to be comfy but cute so this tropical blue Yumi Kim romper was perfect. Talk about colorful!!
My earrings are Stella and Dot and and I’m wearing MAC “club” eyeshadow and lips are Revlon Colorburst lip butter in “sorbet.”
For the ride home, I changed into a comfy tunic dress by Jess Lea Boutique with my new fave (and cheap!) Forever 21 white distressed denim shorts. And these Anthropologie tan cork wedges are also surprisingly comfy and made my legs look longer than usual! My lip color is Nars “Schiap,”– the raddest pink on the planet paired with these retro cool Ray Bans.
One thing that I wore all weekend were false lashes. I mixed it up between my Esqido mink lashes and my Ardel #110 lashes. The ultimate easy way to glamorize your face when pictures are being taken!
Can we take a moment to give Charleston a big round of applause for all of their beautiful outdoor backdrops?? Geez the colors and the flowers and the architecture is just beautiful!! Charleston I already miss you and want to go back.
