Remember the post where I introduced you to Pantene’s Platinum Color Lock shampoo and conditioner system HERE? I was accepting the challenge to see if these two products could REALLY keep my dye job from fading through these hot summer months by exclusively using them for 6 weeks after dying my own hair.
The biggest reason I was excited to try them out? Because I am constantly disappointed how quickly my fresh hair color fades and my greys come back to haunt me within a couple weeks of dying my hair. Yes I dye my hair at home because, well, I don’t like paying the high price tag that comes with salon color. And I don’t mind having one overall color so I have been dying my own hair ever since high school just for fun – purple, maroon, black, you name it. Now, I do it out of necessity because of the grey more than anything.
Here are picture results 6 weeks after I freshly dyed my hair on April 19th…
I’d say, overall, this is VERY IMPRESSIVE. Ok, so my color faded just slightly (as you can tell by the side by side photo) but what I liked the most, was that my greys were not completely obvious after 6 weeks. Y’all, I usually have to dye my roots again as soon as 4 weeks hits as it gets so glaringly bad and faded. Especially when I put my hair in a ponytail the greys are rampant – my kids are the first to remind me they can see them:) I can honestly say, I probably could have gone one more week without dying my hair after 6 weeks of using these Pantene Platinum products. The Nutri-Lock technology helped to keep my hair radiant and shiny too with no dullness! I really like that.
The bottle size of these shampoos and conditioners are humongous (40 ounces) so they’re gonna last me through quite a few more dye jobs. I bet until at least when school starts back if I had to guess! I only wash my hair every 3 days just FYI – I’ve heard that’s the best thing for also keeping your color fresher and not stripping your hairs natural oils. I use a lot of dry shampoo around my house (Pantene’s is actually one of my drugstore favorites!).
Also, I never thought this would make a difference, but the pumps on the bottles is such a handy addition!! I love not having to tilt the dang bottle to get the product out from a cap – just one easy press down and out comes your product – nice and clean! If you’ve ever noticed, most salons have this feature on their products when they wash your hair at the sink – it’s a simple luxury addition in my opinion.
Pantene just made my life a little bit easier with this formula and now mama’s dollar is going to get stretched a bit further and I am not going to have to constantly think about dyeing my hair every 4 weeks. And one last detail, the fragrance is typical of Pantene, makes my hair smell glamorous and fresh but not overpowering!
