I have been waiting to get my hands on one of the Too Faced Melted Liquified lipsticks, $21, ever since they came out. I feel like I have seen them on every beauty blogger I follow on Instagram so I finally felt it was my time to find out what all of the hype was about.
I own SO many lipsticks, so how different and awesome could they really be??
The packaging is like a carmex tube (instead of traditional twist up hard case) with a velvet sponge like-tip applicator that squirts the product out with gooey tiny beads of color. Does that make it sound messy? It’s not! Amazingly enough this formula dispenses so evenly on the lips and feels great and cushiony once on! It truly reminds me of when I’ve left a lipstick out in my car in the Georgia heat and returned to find it melted beyond the point of recognition. What a bummer. But Too Faced has turned that idea into a beautiful mess!
Since I feel like I have every color in the rainbow when it comes to lipsticks, how would I choose which shade I needed to start off with? Well summer time is all about the bright and colorful BERRIES you see at the supermarket – raspberries, strawberries, and blackberries! And despite there being plenty of rose and pinky lighter shades in this line, I figured I would go big or go home with this formula.
I also had my little shopping buddy Vivian with me in Sephora when looking at these lippiess. So after encouraging me to swatch literally every color in the display, she helped me decide on my color. We agreed on the “Melted Berry.” It’s just so berry bold and opaque and I got her seal of approval.
My only issue with this product is that it is described as” long wear” but I might would have to disagree with that. Although it does produce a nice stained effect (I think due to my color choice) after awhile, my beautiful berry shade lasts one hour tops before I have to reapply. This is partly because I just adore the oqaque and highly pigmented look so I like I need to keep refreshing it.
