I have recently been given the honor of becoming a part of the Aveeno Ambassador program. This means I was lucky enough to have been chosen to be sent a slew of their skincare products and then some! I grew up using a lot of their products as a teenager because they had that trusted reputation of being skin friendly and not overly-perfumed. And you know what, they still are.
Honestly, even before being chosen for this program, if someone wanted my suggestion for a face cleanser or moisturizer from the drugstore, Aveeno was always my #1 choice because typically even the most sensitive of clients can handle their stuff and benefit from it.
So after using most of the products over the past few months, I have come to choose my personal favorites. Here I am sharing with you my top 3 and what skin issues they provide solutions to and why.
1. Issue – Dull uneven facial skin
Solution : Aveeno Positively Radiant Skin Brightening Daily Scrub ,$6
Why I like it : I know I mentioned that most of the Aveeno products don’t have a heavy perfume scent to them, in fact most have none at all. But this one, the scent is what gets me – it is the most refreshing scent my nose has ever smelled in a skincare product. I wish I knew exactly what it contained, but it smells as if you just rolled around in a fresh garden of aloe that sparkles like champagne bubbles. How is that for descriptive?!
This very mild and gentle exfoliator (no big scratchy particles here) gently scrubs off the yucky dead layers of skin cells to reveal a brighter and glowing skin tone. It contains a natural soy based extract that is nice and moisturizing for my dry skin and I use just a dime sized amount to clean with when I switch out from using my normal face cleanser. I use this about two to three times a week, and love using it right when I wake up in the morning to energize my skin for the day because that fresh scent just gets me going. Think of it as prepping your skin before your makeup so that it can look photoshop-flawless!!
2. Issue – Dry flaky body skin
Solution : Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion Sheer Hydration, $7
Why I like it: I’ve used a lot of lotions in my life. A lot. I cannot handle having dry legs and arms – it’s a pet peeve of mine. So when I received this new lotion just within the past week (the Aveeno program has been so kind to surprise me with new product boxes about once a month!) I looked at the bottle thinking, no big deal. Just another lotion.
Wrong. This stuff is truly outrageous and awesome!! It’s labeled as “absorbing in seconds with a powder like feel.” Hmmm, ok, powdery doesn’t = moisturized to me, but let’s try it. Yes, it absorbs so quickly and oh my gosh, my skin feels more like silky powdery – like a veil of smoothness was just applied on top of my skin!!! It’s over the top yummy feeling. And zero scent whatsoever so it won’t interfere with your perfume you regularly wear. This stuff is sitting on my desk right now, and I just had to apply another layer for fun.
Oh, and that beautiful washed baby blue silk chiffon scarf was also a gift that came along with my Aveeno products. It’s a Miranda Bennett creation and is the perfect lightweight scarf that will go with with my summer tank tops and maxi dresses. You can check out more of her line here at MirandaBennettStudio.com.
3. Issue – Irritated and itchy skin
Solution : Aveeno Soothing Bath Treatment, $8
Why I like it : We get a lot of sunburns and bug bites around my house during the summer time. Yes I slather my kids in the highest SPF I can find when we head out to the pool or beach but I’m human, and sometimes I forget if we visit the park or a go to a baseball game. Also, my daughter and I are hyper sensitive and must taste like sugar to all of the mosquitos that fly around our yard because we can get a bug bite within seconds of stepping out of our house in the summertime. Our legs tend to look like we have chicken pox from all the mosquito bites we get!
These soothing colloidal oatmeal packets were a first for me to try in the bathtub, but I had always read that oatmeal was an effective ingredient for itchy irritated skin. So I tested a packet out on my daughter after a fun warm spring evening on the swingset that turned into a picnic for the mosquitos on her legs. Not only were Vivian’s legs irritated, she was irritated from wanting to scratch so much! And if you have a 4 year old daughter who is dramatic like mine, you want to end that irritation STAT.
But as you can see from this pic above, after dumping the whole packet in her bath water and letting her soak in it for a good 20 minutes, a smile appeared on her face and her once bright red bug spots, had calmed down considerably. The perfect and gentle solution for my little gal! Now I know what product to reach for next time I get a nasty sunburn or bug bites and it gives me a reason to soak in a nice relaxing bath! Granted, she had an issue with the brown water it created (not her usual pink bubble bath) but once she realized it was working, she was totally ok with the non-girly colored water.

Do I feel a kindred spirit towards Aveeno because their spokeswomen is another Jennifer?? As in Aniston – Maybe! Many thanks again to the Aveeno family for the opportunity to try out all of their amazing products and for providing me (and my family!) with some awesome and effective skin solutions for whatever the environment throws at us.
I’d love to know – what is YOUR favorite Aveeno product?
