One of my favorite makeup products to use is BLUSH. A lot of people don’t give it enough credit as to what it can do for your look. Simply put, blush adds life to your complexion.
I have a love affair with cream blushes and their texture. The main picture above shows just a sampling of my cream blush stash. When choosing a blush in general, texture is the first thing to think of. Powder blushes are more popular, but I find cream blushes are more forgiving and give a more natural looking flush than powder formulas that can sometimes sit on top of the skin. Cream blushes are ideal for normal to dry skin and more mature skin because they are more moisturizing. If you have oilier skin and want to try a similar look without the powder, try a gel or stain so they don’t slip off the skin.
When you apply a cream blush, use your most convenient tool, your finger, because the warmth of your skin pressing the product into your cheeks makes it really easy to blend. (Albeit messy, but that’s what kleenex is for!) They’re also easy to build on, so start light, by applying a few dabs of color on the fatty part of the check then rubbing in a circular motion upwards towards your temple. Step away from your mirror, smile, then add another layer if you need to.
And an added bonus about these types of blushes is that they double as a lip product most of the time. I’m wearing my Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge in “Pale Pink” in these photos on my lips and cheeks (which is on sale right now at Nordstrom.com!). Although I beg to differ with the color description because I find it’s more light raspberry pink and not so pale, but that’s me being nitpicky:) This product is the ultimate time-saver for those that aren’t keen on taking forever to apply their makeup because it gives you a two in one option that you don’t have to think about separate lips and cheeks products.
