I have always liked celebrating St. Patricks Day. I’m an all around sucker for any holiday that gives you an excuse to dress up, wear a certain color, or celebrate just about anything!! Fun fact (maybe!) – my maiden name is ‘Greenhaw.’ I remember growing up my dad would purposefully NOT wear green on SPD bc he I really think he wanted the excuse to tell people who asked why he wasn’t wearing green that, “We don’t have to wear the color green to not get pinched because our family wears it every day in our name…GREENhaw” This might have seemed lame to some, but don’t think I didn’t use that excuse if I ever forgot to wear the shade of the day!! Thanks Dad.
Back in college it was about the green beer (why does that gross me out now??) but maybe now it’s about dying my kids rice krispy treats green! I do love the idea of “luck” associated with St. Patty’s Day and as a kid I would spend forever trying to find a 4 leaf clover in a field of the green stuff and when I did find one, (think that only happened once or twice) you would’ve thought I hit the lottery and was the luckiest little girl on earth. Isn’t that a great feeling for something so small to create such joy??
