I do my makeup fancy for blog posts all of the time, but typically take it right off to do laundry in my pajama pants and no one ever sees it. But recently I had the pleasure of having a reason to keep on that fancy makeup AND get dressed up for a night out with my hubby. Even though we don’t get out much (unless it’s with our three little ones!) I do have a few outfit + makeup ideas that will never fail me when going into a dressy casual date night…

Unfortunately I didn’t get many pics of us at the actual event benefiting Downtown Ministries, so the two above are it! We were too busy mingling with great friends and listening to the message about this fundraiser that we didn’t have time to mess with our iPhones…refreshing though.
So when it comes to figuring out what in the world I’m going to wear for a date night,
there is some simple style math that comes into play…
- LBD (little black dress) It might sound cliche, but you seriously will always look chic, sexy, and appropriate in one. Oh, and yes I included my Spanx Slim Cognitos in the shop post above because no dress is complete without some shape wear.
- FANCY JEWELRY (costume is totally ok!) So since your LBD might be a bit plain, it’s okay to jazz it up with some killer costume jewelry. I die for big shiny bracelets and/or earrings.
- SMOKEY EYE. Seriously one cannot go wrong for a night on the town when choosing to wear a smokey eye. Why do I usually choose this look? Because when I know I’m going to be eating, drinking, and chatting with people, I don’t want to have to worry about touching up a high maintenance bold lip. I’d rather wear a neutral no fuss lip with WOWZA look at my eyes look!
- STRAPPY HEELS. I always feel more confident in heels. They make you stand tall and instantly give your calves a mini workout which in turn makes your legs look hotter! I don’t wear them often since I’ve got kids to deal with, but when it’s just Scott and me, I know I’ve got him to hang on to if I need to balance myself because I chose super high heels:)
