Ever since reading all of the hype behind celebrity makeup artist Charlotte Tilbury’s new makeup line (found at my favorite place Nordstrom) and it’s rave reviews right after it came out, I’ve been DYING to try it. I mean the lady has worked with everyone from Kate Moss, Kim Kardashian, and Rihanna. So I knew it would be good. Luckily I have great in-laws who hooked me up with this contour and highlight kit for Christmas which is my first piece from her collection. And I don’t think I could have started off with a better product!
My thoughts and experience with this duo :
1. Packaging – crazy luxurious, slightly heavy, and rose gold. I mean, I feel like a celebrity just holding it. Inside the box it’s got some application suggestions of where to apply each bronzer and highlighter which is helpful for those that have no idea where to start with it. And she’s got a signature tiny star in the corner of the product which I love bc y’all know I’ve got a star tattoo and it’s a part of my JennySue Makeup logo:)
2. Bronzer side – it’s one of the best bronzing shades I’ve ever used. It’s not too orange, not too shiny or shimmery, and the feel is pure velvet softness when you apply it. Very easily blend-able as well. I used it on the hollows of my cheeks and along the sides of my nose as well as my neck. My favorite flat brush to apply this contour color with is this MAC #191 paint brush, $34, to get the sharp edges for my cheeks and nose. I used a fluffy bronzer brush for my neck.
3. Highlight side – the most perfect candlelit color on the planet. Again, not too garish or shimmery, just pure champagne colored that will work on the palest of pale to the darkest of dark skin. It is spectacular. I used it with a small fluffy headed brush, this one by Sonia Kashuk, $12, on the middle of my nose, top of my brows, and upper cheekbones. And a small amount on my cupids bow using the skinny tapered side of my Stila #15 double sided brush, $35 (a must have eyeshadow brush everyone should own).
4. Overall. Ok, so I didn’t purchase this $65 compact with my own money. And y’all know I would always prefer to go cheap where I can with my makeup products because I’ve got 3 kids to feed. But would I have paid for it now knowing how it performs? Absolutely. I will even go so far as to say I am going to purchase a few of her other products now seeing the quality – specifically one of her Rock ‘n Kohl liquid eye pencils and her Magic Cream – apparently the holy grail of skin products (you can read why people are obsessed with it here).
