I have always said that makeup is a small and simple way to make a woman feel more confident about herself. And now I have a deeper understanding of that to be very true. I had the pleasure of meeting the creator and CEO of this line, Stephanie Green-Bass, at the Southern Blog Society coffee talk I attended a few weeks ago. She is also a mother of two girls – one in heaven, Bella, and one here on earth, Ava. Before getting into the actual products I used, it’s important to hear this brief background of Plā’s full story.…
Stephanie’s first daughter, Bella, passed away 18 days after being born. Despite the heartache of losing her first child (which I cannot wrap my head around being a mom myself) she managed to channel that hurt and sadness into creating this makeup line because she knew that during those tough days, that the act of applying a little makeup would help her smile and face the day.

This means that every product purchased, a portion of that sale goes towards Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta (the center that helped Stephanie and Bella during those 18 days) or other children’s hospitals where Plā is sold. My thoughts on the line.
Of course I wanted to love it right away after hearing the story behind it and meeting Stephanie. But you just never know when trying a small boutique line that isn’t widely distributed. Luckily, I was super impressed with the way everything performed and looked on. Yipee! The blushes, shadows, and bronzer were very highly pigmented and felt like high end department store quality products.
Here’s what I used to create my look:
- I layered both blushes, the matte first with the brighter pink shimmer on top.
- I used the bronzer to contour and circle the perimeter of my face to give it a subtle glow. Loved this mosaic bronzer for so many reasons and that it wasn’t all one color, because you want your bronzer to have some dimension so it doesn’t look flat.
- Almost all of the shadows were used on my eye look (except for “nearly nude”). I even used the dark brown shadow (smoke) wet as my liner along the top of the lash line, and the “bronze sunset” along lower lash line. The “peach ice” on my brow bone is my new favorite and such a good bone color!
- Finished my look off with the “Splash of Happy” lipstick (deep rose) with “Bella” lip gloss on top. Once I found out that Bella must have been created for her first daughter, I literally teared up with happiness, because this was the most beautiful nude based gloss with a hint of coral shimmer to it. I’ve worn it almost every day just by itself. All of the glosses are just gorgeous and feel amazing and hydrating on the lips – not super sticky and with a high gloss shine!
