Slightly weird, I know. But when I thought about what features I liked most about these two celebs, it made sense to split up their faces. We all have at least ONE feature about our face that deep down we really like, and it’s okay to admit it and even better, highlight it! Here’s what we can learn from these ladies about playing up our best features with a few techniques and products to make it easy:
Mrs. David Silver:
Please tell me you get the 90210 association with this. If not, I guess I’m a lot older than I thought! Fox is married to the guy that played David Silver on my tv favorite show as a teenager, Beverly Hills 90210. Ok, moving on.
Those Brows. Megan is a prime example that well manicured, full brows are a must. We tend to forget out poor little brows in the whole beauty routine in the morning, but if you take a little time to fill them in and pluck the strays – they’ll frame your eyes before you ever take a stroke of shadow or mascara to them. One of the most realistic products to use to fill in those tiny hair is Anastasia’s Brow Wiz ($21). It’s my new favorite mechanical skinny pencil with an attached spool to brush the product through.
Eyes. Aside from her envious crystal blue colored eyes (there are contacts for that), she plays up their shape and lashes to the max. Keeping the brow bone extremely light and matte, gives a lifted eye look along with the emphasis of the eyeliner along the upper AND lower lash lines. A little champagne shimmer shadow right in the tear duct area also makes eyes pop. You can get all of these shadows in one spot with the Too Faced Cosmetics Natural Eye Collection, ($36). This palette also comes with cheat sheets inside, yay!! Pile on the mascara on the top and bottom lashes with the newest double wand mascara by Maybelline New York Volum’ Express The Falsies Big Eyes, ($9), making sure to focus mainly on those outer corner lashes.
J.Lo:
Miss Lopez gets prettier with age in my opinion and this mom of twins knows how to work what God gave her!
Cheekbones. Hers could cut glass and so could yours if contoured correctly. The key here is to create a dark hollow right underneath the cheekbone area with a deep matte bronzer. Take a small angled blush brush from the top of the ear swiping diagonally towards the bottom lip. Then add a peachy pink shimmery blush right above that dark area to make the top fatty part of your cheeks become more noticeable, which in turn creates the illusion of a cheekbone that pops! Nars bronzer blush duo in Orgasm/Laguna makes it easy for you, ($40).
Lips. No matter how thin your lips, highlighting the cupids bow just along the very top of the upper lip like Jennifer does, works every time to create an illusion of thicker lips. The easiest way to do this is to use a soft highlighter pencil, I like benefit’s High Brow, $20 (even though it’s meant for brow bones it works on lips too!) which is a shimmery linen pink that works for most skin tones. You can also swipe a little dot of the highlighter right on the very middle of the upper and lower lip on top of whatever lipstick or gloss you apply.
What M & J seem to share: Radiant Skin. Being in their 30’s + 40’s, evening out skin tone, softening lines and wrinkles is priority for keeping skin looking younger. Keys to getting this are : 1. washing your face EVERY night to wash the day away and clean out the pores, 2. then applying a night cream every night with a retinol product like Kate Somerville 2 in 1 Retinol night cream ($85), 3. then being sure to keep a moisturizer on during the day with an SPF in it to keep the sun spots away!!
