I’m not gonna lie, traveling with three children across the country from Georgia to California had me on edge before we even stepped foot into the Atlanta airport!
I worried about anything and everything that I thought could possibly go wrong. From packing issues, getting through security, making it to our flight on time, to temper tantrums while being stuck on a plane for 5 hours, no one sleeping good in a hotel room, you name it, I worried about it. Fortunately, NONE of those things happened! What is it they say, “Worrying is like a rocking chair, it gets you nowhere!!”
After spending 6 days with my hubby and three little ones in the beautiful cities of LA & San Francisco, I can honestly say we did it, we survived it, and I’d do it again in a heartbeat! I took SO many pictures, I’m not going to bore you with a gazillion of them (although I’d love to!) but I’d like to share a few of my favorites if you’d like to see. These are from the first leg of our trip to LA before we headed to San Francisco for the duration of our vacation.
This was just the beginning of our trip which consisted mainly of traveling, driving the boys around the city to show them some famous LA sights while their little sis slept in the rental car (she needed the nap!), then settling into our hotel room.
Finding a reasonable hotel room in this city to house 5 people, without breaking the bank, was kind of like figuring out a rubix cube! We ended up at the LeMontrose Hotel right in the center of West Hollywood which was a great central location. We had a quaint suite with a living area right off the bedroom plus a kitchen, which is huge when you’ve got multiple children. We didn’t feel right on top of one and another in one single room! The staff at this place was also incredibly sweet, kind, and accommodating. I’m not sure I’ve ever experienced such an all around nice group of hotel staff before!!
We grabbed a bite to eat at the Pink Taco right around the way from our hotel, which was ah-mazingly yummy and quite the casual hot spot even on a Tuesday night! The sangria was to die for and so was the fried ice cream dessert. If you’ve got one in your area, I would say it’s a must for yummy Mexican food.
Our last day in LA consisted of a drive to the Santa Monica Pier where we spent all day running around the beach then the park the rest of the afternoon. That evening we went to visit my husband’s friend from college who lives out in Calabasas who had us over for dinner and swimming at their beautiful home. This is the area where the Kardashians and Bieber live, but no sightings of either! However, we did have one celebrity sighting, which was Kristen Bell from Veronica Mars who was shooting at the Santa Monica Pier – annoying tourist pic I took of her above on the bench:)
I’m dealing with some massive jet lag and trying to get back on east coast time (plus doing loads of laundry!), so I promise to share the rest of our photos soon. Until then, have you been to LA with kids? What are your favorite things to do there?
