We know the sun is bad bad bad for your skin…we should be wearing 75 SPF at all times! But there is something about a pretty, healthy, warm, sunny glow you can only get from sitting by the pool or beach right? Wrong.
Here’s how I go from looking like a bored housewife to a bronzed beach babe without the sun…
1. Make a base. You gotta have a little foundation for a more flawless face. I used Revlon’s new Nearly Naked foundation mixed with just a tad of my FAVORITE body bronzer, LORAC Tantalizer (I live and breathe for this stuff), and then applied all over. I even mix the Tantalizer with some regular moisturizer with SPF to warm up my neck and chest color to match my face (because you don’t need foundation on your neck right?!!).
2. Spot treat the dark circles and discolored problem areas. I use Maybelline’s Dream Lumi Touch concealer stick in “nude” ($8) because it’s got a luminous quality and isn’t super matte or heavy which wouldn’t look very beachy. It’s got just enough coverage but gives a nice dewy appearance.
3. Lightly highlight. A little extra shimmer along the cheekbones and down the bridge of the nose is just enough to reflect the light. Too Faced Candlelight Highlighting Duo Powder ($30) adds the perfect amount of shimmer.
4. Don’t forget your cheeks and lips. Another favorite of mine, Nars The Multiple stick in “Portofino” ($39), is the perfect all purpose shade for some warm color on both cheeks and lips without looking too made up. I apply this stick to my lips with a lip brush FYI.
Voila!! A not-so-fake tan without the self tanner or the sunshine!
