I totally agree with this. I am so proud of my dad and who he is, that it makes my love grow more and more for him as an adult because I realize what all he’s done throughout my childhood to make sure I had everything I needed. Not just materialistic things, but he instilled a lot of things in me that make me a better, more independent, and loving person today. He has set by example, not just words.
Here’s what makes my dad so cool:
- he could kick anyones butt in trivia…anyone,
- he’s a math wiz (he’s a CPA, why couldn’t have I gotten that smarty pants gene??),
- an incredible golfer (also, didn’t get that athletic bone!),
- a very loyal man, seriously loyal,
- he has great hair and an incredible metabolism (thank God he did pass those traits down to me!)
- and everyone likes to be around him, including his grandchildren!! – he’s a truly fun guy.
In addition to my own dad, I of course have to send a big shout out to my hubby who is also an AWESOME dad to my kids and is currently setting an amazing example of what it means to be a loving and involved father. I seriously could NOT have dreamed up a more perfect and caring father to my children than Scott. I love you more than you know.
Luckily my dad and mom are coming to visit us this weekend to help celebrate the big Father’s Day weekend so I’m sure we’ll do some fun activities together and maybe even bust out the roller skates…
*Thanks to my mom for hooking me up with these vintage daddy/daughter pics – can you believe how much my own kids actually look like me when compared to the above photos?? The gene pool is crazy.*
What are you doing to celebrate the father figure in your life this weekend?
