{My mom and me circa 1980 something.}
Growing up, my mother never left the house without her makeup on. I never took this as her being super vain or anything, my memories were just thinking “WOW, my mom really takes care of herself and she looks SO pretty!!” I remember enjoying just watching her apply her makeup and hoping she would share a share a swipe of eye shadow or lip gloss with me if I stared at her long enough. For every ballet recital and dance performance I had growing up, she was the one that did my makeup for me. I loved every minute of it and watched her verrrry carefully trying to figure out how to do it to myself one day.
My mom isn’t a professional makeup artist, but she was and still is a woman who truly enjoys “putting on her face” and trying out the latest and greatest beauty products. You should see her bathroom vanity – it rivals my makeup collection!!
I didn’t have to think long or hard about this powwow. You can obviously see who influenced me early on when it came to my love of everything beauty, so now I want to know, Who is or was, YOUR biggest beauty influence?? And mom if you’re reading this, thanks for being my beauty mentor, even when you probably didn’t know it!!
