I keep seeing the big trend in beauty and fashion is the color ORANGE…I don’t do orange very well, whether it be lipstick or clothing. But, I do love a good seasonal trend and I know there’s always a way to tweak a trend to make it work for you. So instead of orange lipstick, I will wear CORAL. Coral is just an easier version of the citrus fruit color with a hint of pink- which is always flattering on women in my opinion.

I recently sported some coral lips to a baby shower, and paired this lip color with a yellow eye shadow (try MAC’s chrome yellow $14.00) and very coral cheeks (Lancome blush in shimmer coral sunset $29.50). I found this to be a very refreshing combination and love how spring-like this orange-y color looks, without actually being orange!
I borrowed this coral color by Maybelline Super Stay 24hr lip color from my mom who was in town and was raving over this stay put lipcolor, so I had to give it a try. And I must say, I put this stuff on at 10am in the morning before the shower, had some punch, petite fours, chicken salad, then Girl Scout cookies when I got home (yum, it’s that time of year!) and even around 3pm, my lips still looked good as new!! Really!
Instead of sporting “orange wear” for spring, I think I’m going to be more inspired by the white and cream palette seen at the Ralph Lauren Spring 2011 collection. I love the idea of wearing head to toe versions of white this spring (once I get a slight tan of course!) and breaking them up with a brown belt or other leather and metal accessories.
I think my new coral lips and cheeks would also pair nicely with this crisp white look!
