I shared a bit on social media about our brief time at the Ritz Carlton at Lake Oconee last week, but I am FINALLY getting around to putting together a blog post to share a fraction of the photos we took while there! Brace yourself, there’s a bunch! It’s hard to pick which ones to show off when the property of this hotel is just so breathtakingly beautiful.
We were so fortunate that my in-laws decided that they wanted to treat our family and my sis-n-laws family to a 2 night trip there last week. I had actually been there before, but, it was only for work as I did makeup for a wedding party there. The Ritz at Lake Oconee is truly a magnificent place and only about 45 minutes from our hometown of Athens.
Which is awesome because that means it’s a short trip with 3 kids to go somewhere that feels out of this world!

The weather was kind of on and off the whole time we were there with quick pop up showers, but it wasn’t such a bad thing, because the little bit of rain cooled things off to where walking around outside was more bearable! You know this Georgia heat is legit! HA!
Did I mention how kid-friendly this place is?? I mean it’s crazy good. There are activities for children to do around every corner, from outdoor swings, a beachy lake with sand toys, awesome pool with noodles, smores fire pit at night, and a kids club.

Go tubing on the lake while you’re at the Ritz Carlton Lake Oconee!
It was a blast for all of us to do! And actually, my father-in-law had made a reservation for a boat, but when all 10 of us arrived that morning to get on it (and you can imagine what a feet that is to get 5 small kids up and ready to get on a boat!), they had mixed up our reservations and it wasn’t available. Of course the kids were so disappointed because they’d been looking forward to this activity since we knew we were going. But after going through a few channels and people at the Ritz Carlton, they made it up to us by offering us a pontoon boat that was available and threw in a jet ski for the boys to ride to make up for the inconvenience. Now that’s service.
I actually joined in on the fun of the tubing – but not for long:) My arms got tired real quick! But my sons loved it and it was a wonderful and peaceful lake to boat and jet ski on because it’s not too crowded.
We spent a LOT of time in the water…obviously:)
My sweet in-laws who made this getaway possible and their 5 grandchildren that they call the “Fab Five!”
The smores pit at night was such a blast and the kids LOVED it! They provide these cute little individual packs of chocolate and graham crackers plus marshmallows and sticks and you can eat them until your belly is full!! This was one of my favorite activities to do with the kids and I think the Ritz offers this all year round.

Our last night there we went a little off the property (shuttle complimentary so we didn’t have to get our car out of valet) and met some good friends that live around Lake Oconee at the National Tavern for dinner. It was an awesome suggestion thanks to our “locals” Lacie & Paul, and the food was phenomenal. Might I suggest the Cuban and their mac-n-cheese – delicious! There’s even putting green that can keep kids busy while you wait for your table, #brilliant.
If you’re thinking of planning a trip to the Ritz Carlton Lake Oconee anytime soon, I would say you should definitely do it! And no, this is in no way a sponsored post through them, we just truly enjoyed our stay there so much I had to share it if you are thinking of taking your family and little ones to a nice resort!
Thanks Ritz for such an incredible stay (and to my in laws for making it happen!)…I hope to be back very soon
